Pros

Smith + Howard provided a strong platform to grow as a cybersecurity and risk advisory leader. I had the opportunity to build deep client relationships, lead complex cyber risk and compliance engagements, and help expand service offerings across areas including ISO 27001, cyber risk assessments, transaction advisory support, and governance initiatives. The firm gives motivated professionals significant autonomy and exposure early in their careers. Leadership is approachable, and there are genuinely good people across the organization who care about clients and team culture. I also appreciated the entrepreneurial environment, which allowed me to pursue thought leadership, develop new ideas, and work directly with executives, investors, and operational leaders. The firm has strong brand credibility in the Southeast and middle market.

Cons

As with many mid-sized firms, scaling specialized advisory practices can be challenging without dedicated business development, marketing, and operational infrastructure aligned specifically to cybersecurity services. Growth initiatives depended heavily on individual effort and internal advocacy.
