    Pros

Company is going through some growing pains but if you are a hard worker it is easy to get recognized. They are looking for leaders and want to promote from within. Great family values, great vision of healthcare and a team environment that allows you to succeed. You will get exposure to some of the best healthcare leaders in the country.

    Cons

Again, they are still changing and growing the company and it can be a little crazy. If you are great at handling ambiguity, this will be no issue.

    Advice to Management

Continue down the path but maybe narrow the focus vs. taking on too many things.

    Pros

There are many recent posts that are discussing the transition of SourceMed. The organization is in transition and moving forward for the future. Anytime this happens, in any company, difficult decisions by the leadership team needs to be made. The current leadership is setting the company up very well for the next 10 years for both their customers and their employees.
New individuals have been brought in with different skillsets to help transform the company and everyone is working very hard. SourceMed has a great culture where the senior managers have an open door policy and transparent to the employees. A great work/life balance and work from home options.

    Cons

Any company that is transforming itself for the future has growing pains. If you are self motivated and believe in the mission, you will do very well at SourceMed.

    Advice to Management

Transformation is hard. Keep up the great work and communication to your employees and customers!

I have been working at SourceMedical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Largest software customer base in their space.
Very loyal and hard working employees.

    Cons

A couple years ago new ownership brought in new CEO to push the company to grow 40% per year versus the 10% achieved prior years. The recruited Jamie Coffin, ex Dell and IBM executive where the divisions he worked for grew very fast, and he brought on 20 something Dell employees in newly created positions. They formulated a vey good strategic plan to grow the business. However, the execution of the plan was very lacking. They got rid of many of the longer term employees in sales, product, and service who had industry knowledge and more importantly had great relationships with clients. Jamie and the team he brought in had neither and instead of augmenting the company with good existing employees with his potentially talented new team, he got rid of employees in a very unprofessional manner including several who were contacted during vacations that they were let go. Jamie's style is not that of a CEO including demeaning employees in public including using slur words. If you are a client or a prospect, think twice about whether commitments can be met by Jamie. If you are a partner, reconsider whether you want to work with people like this. If you are an employee, find a better company that values individuals and rewards good results, not managing by fear. Most importantly, if you are a company owner, you shouldn't let Jamie come close to your company or he might destroy it like he destroyed Source Medical by having the owners forced to move parts of the company under different management. Don't make your money cry!

    Advice to Management

Let the remaining part of the company to be sold to new ownership so new management that is better can do something positive for this well deserving company. It will be sad to see this company fall out of the HIT 100 next year due to the mismanagement of the current administration.

    Pros

Great people trying to help long term customers. Flexible work/life balance.

    Cons

The new CEO brought in all his buddies from other companies - very few know anything about ASC or the healthcare market - they are Dell and IBM hardware guys. Support and Development is a mess and they are selling anything of worth. They have three old products that customers want to be upgraded to something in the 2000's. Stay away from this sinking ship

    Advice to Management

Sell the remaining ASC software and go find somewhere else to work

    Pros

Still have a handful of people who really know the Ambulatory Surgery Center space. The Therapy Division being sold should make it easier to focus on one market segment.

    Cons

Too many high salary positions were created to make room for followers of the CEO and their entourage. These people did not know the Therapy or ASC space, products or clients and were so egotistical they were unwilling to admit it. Their arrogance contributed to client attrition which led to work force reductions (lay-offs) in July and again this month. Cronyism is a morale killer. When the CEO and EVP level put people in positions they are not qualified to perform it is inevitable they will fail but also the projects they were leading fail. It became clear if you were not a "yes" person you had no opportunity for career growth or to be in a leadership role. Almost two years under the new leadership and the company is in shambles - sold Encircle, sold the Therapy Division, at least two rounds of lay-offs and nothing really to show for the future state/new product that was going to save the day. It has been a series of bad decisions that have negatively impacted the few faithful long time employees that are left as well as the clients.

    Advice to Management

Include the few people you have left that really know the ASC space to try and save the company. Realize that part of what clients look for in a vendor/partner is more than the software - it is also knowledgeable people that care about doing things the right way that have industry insight to help them. Quit trying to cram a cloud based solution down their throats and look at alternatives that will keep Source viable. It is disappointing that the private equity firm has not really gotten to the root cause of the issue yet. Lay-offs are a short term solution to meet the immediate financial crisis but not the long term solution. Investors, clients and employees have lost confidence in the leadership and as a result in the company. The last 2 years of the good old boy/girl syndrome have almost destroyed the company. Swallow your pride and reach out to people that can help turn it around.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at SourceMedical (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A select few of talented, caring mid-level and executive employees really stand out.

    Cons

-Years of neglect in R&D all-too-evident to market
-Flurry of hiring by new CEO (from his former companies) into newly invented executive roles has made company top-heavy, with too-few hands at execution level
-Lack of unity between corporate HQ and satellite offices
-Comp well below industry standard, skewed by Deep South (HQ) cost of living

    Advice to Management

Not all good ideas come from the top.

    I worked at SourceMedical full-time

    Pros

It used to be a good company. I was there just under 5 years. A lot of really talented people who worked hard and played hard. The software had some issues, but there was at least a push to try for their customers to make it better. Then the new regime took over and it's all gone to hell. Jamie Coffin has no idea what he's doing other than hiring all of his old Dell cronies who know nothing about the ASC market or healthcare other than selling servers and computers. Software is different than hardware. And he has no business trying to sell Revenue Cycle Services to anyone.

    Cons

Pick one. Jamie has lied about pay and effectively forced out any good talent he had left. My favorite story was hearing of one of the employees who had been there for 18 years and during a major layoff, he was on vacation. Not only did he call his manager multiple times to find out if he was affected when he got back, he was told he was no longer an employee there via email. If that's not disgusting and horrible, I don't know what is. Bottom line, this isn't the SourceMedical it was even 2 years ago. If you're thinking about working here and you never worked for Dell, DONT. You will be sorry.

    Advice to Management

I have so much advice, but it wouldn't do anyone any good because outside of 2 VPs there, no one actually listens. So good luck. Advice to current employees.. the ship is going down, jump quickly.
