I worked at Southern Union full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Run by a great executive team that provided general direction for major projects and entrusted the staff in the organization to execute the projects. Many outstanding smart people were at Southern Union.

    Cons

Perhaps a little too risk adverse at times regarding business expansion opportunities and pursuit of additional assets to bolster market share.

    Advice to Management

Allow more U.S. and international expansion projects. Expand the company into the top interstate pipeline company in North America.

    Pros

Laid back, friendly environment, willing to train people to improve skills.

    Cons

Pay and benefits that are below average, within our industry. I hope Williams buys us out, but it looks like Energy Transfer is going to get us according to the press releases. My younger brother works for Williams and they have very strong benefits and pay. I have a friend that works at Energy Transfer and they also have below average pay and benefits.

    Advice to Management

Get the pay and perks competitive, and see how employee morale and attitude will improve the bottom line for the company, far beyond what getting the competitive cost.
