I worked at SpeedFC (More than a year)

    Pros

Tons of overtime. Easy job for the pay, for the most part. Great coworkers. Food truck outside everyday if you don't feel like bringing lunch.

    Cons

Work you like pack mules. Horrible insurance. Expect you to do everything perfectly without providing you with the proper things needed to do them. Completely outdated system.

    Advice to Management

Get your butts on the floor and do the jobs that aren't giving you the results you want. Listen to your workers. Don't sit in your office expecting results when you have no clue how the place operates.

    Pros

If you live close and have to work to pay off some bills it would be pocket change no career unless you have a relative that works in the exutive office they hire forigeners to do all the hard work on the production floor. Awlful place to work even their customers are leaving.

    Cons

HR in Texsas have no idea whats goin on in the Pataskala Ohio location. IT team get treated better than the ohio team and make more money. The HR staff in ohio Hire on their relatives and friends that no nothing then hire skill IT folks in at a lower rate to train their friends and relatives too much nepotism. No communications, and lots of favortism. I would never recommend anyone their unless you are really desperate.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring in all your friends and relatives and pay more equally, clean out the ones that don't do anything but sit and get paid.

    Pros

The people are a great bunch! the hours are perfect.

    Cons

no clear line of communication. Management clueless to the happenings within the call center. low pay. just want "bodies" and not quality CSR agents.

    Advice to Management

Fix the turnover rate or keep hemorrhaging money. Start by raising starting pay to $12 to stay competitive. you have the clients, dont be greedy.

    Pros

There is low hanging fruit, opportunity to be a hero.

    Cons

The CEO is a major problem

    Advice to Management

The opportunities to build a great organization are endless at Speed. Stop trying to be the low-cost bidder then destroying management for inherent weaknesses.

    I worked at SpeedFC full-time

    Pros

Seriously, I can not think of any.

    Cons

Two words: Unethical and dysfunctional. Workload is unbearable and very unrewarding. If ICE or OSHA paid a visit, I am sure there would be serious violations. Steer clear if you want a clean reputation.

    Advice to Management

Since you will only be there a year tops, there is no reason to work your behind off, nor to require your direct reports to do the same. Turnover among management is off the charts. Change must come from the top down, and I don't see Satan changing his ways.

I have been working at SpeedFC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Utilizes a full spectrum of eCommerce related software. Casual atmosphere where jeans are the norm. Exposure to terrestrial Window's based PC's and the hotter Mac hardware.

    Cons

Projects are undersold and over promised. As a result, the worker bees are expected to make up the difference. Weekends, Holidays, Grave Yard Shift....they are all expected.

    Advice to Management

The advise has been said by multitudes over many years. Why waste the key strokes. Business outlook.....hey it's worked so far, so it can only keep going as long as there are customers who expect something for nothing.

I worked at SpeedFC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Casual dress code. Dog friendly environment. Employee churn rate among the blue collar types is around 75% a year, so there is opportunity to become senior quickly.

    Cons

Management, from the C-levels on down, is dysfunctional. Large clients are sold products conceived on a whim to be delivered in impossible timeframe, employees across various departments play a game of musical chairs to determine whos responsible when conceptual vaporware product is not delivered in timely manner.

There is no consultation in this process from anyone who would be able to determine feasibility of product. Failures are generally blamed on midlevel management, who are then augmented by a second-tier midlevel management or a new director of some menial task. Compensation is dependent upon bonus that often fails to materialize.

    Pros

    The pay is good
Steep learning curve at first, but it keeps you busy. You will get thrown into the fire right away, don't expect any real kind of training.

    Cons

Bad management, bad planning. Projects are always due yesterday. Managers have the "just make it work, even if it's all being held together with duct tape" mentality. Unrealistic timeframes are the norm, with project managers always deciding for themselves without having any idea of reality. Innovation and doing things right is discouraged at all management levels.

    Advice to Management

You need to get your act together or you will continue losing accounts. You have to listen to developers. You may think they have no idea, but they actually know first hand the root cause of many of the company's issues. There are a lot of very capable people, and if you gave them enough time to do it, they could fix a lot of things and make everything considerably more efficient in the long run.
