Pros

Good Insurance and Retirement Benefits

Cons

Overview I have worked in corporate jobs for 10+ years and I have never worked with a group of people so beaten by the status quo, they have completely given up on changing anything, mentoring, or teaching others. For those that don’t know, this company is 100 years old and has failed to keep up with the time both in attitudes and views on work. Culture Very unsympathetic management styles were you have wanna be alpha males managing and have an upfront “sink or swim” management/ attitude were if you are able to swim you are accepted into the “boys club”. The modern management concept of employee “Development” does not exist here. You can often tell who is a new employee because they are the ones having lunch alone so culturally it’s not a very inclusive place. This is a place where employees awkwardly greet each other in elevators/ common areas and speak with each other only until “after they clock in”. There is constant cross departmental fighting and not behind closed doors but out in the open floor for everyone to see. Everyone that sees this just looks the other way and accepts this as “the way things are”. Overall this is very “watch your back” type of culture that leaves one continuously feeling like you are walking on eggshells. Middle Management is an Atrocity I personally saw a manager get up and go home when “things” hit the fan and left a lower level employee crying and stressed to handle a massive workload on their own. In addition, there was constant public beratement of a manager and older employee that couldn’t grasp “technical processes” that was just cringeworthy.

Pros

Coworkers and location are good

Cons

Co was better before absorbing FGS. They kept the absolute worst managers and their attitude has spread. We get fresh citrus as though that makes up for stagnent salaries and vacation which is miserly at best. Have been letting people go in what almost seems like a warning to other employees as there doesn't seem to be a reason for why the people are gone. Have spent so much money on ridiculous office reorg, am sure our discretionary funding will be nonexistent this year.

Pros

Salaries are competitive Good work/life balance The company has been become more involved in community and charity events Benefits are pretty good, though they have cut them quite a bit over the last couple of years Some departments have flexible and hybrid schedules Good industry reputation Wholesome image and products Sustainability

Cons

The company has consistently been stripping away financial and health benefits from employees. There is an egregious lack of respect and professionalism for employee’s personal or private information. Confidential health information has been shared amongst employees, packing houses, customers for multiple employees; even senior members of the executive team have been over heard talking about other employees out in the open. The vast majority of the Executive team has been with Sunkist less than 4 years and it seems the new leadership philosophy is “out with the old, in with the new”, excising heart, history and integrity. Changes are made just for the sake of change, not for the greater good of the organization. The culture is AWFUL; no real mentoring or professional development, just a sink or swim attitude and the feeling that management is rooting for you to fail. HR is useless, but love to praise themselves, constantly adding staff without effectively changing or improving anything for the employees. There is a lot of inter-company conflict between Sunkist and her sister company, Fruit Growers Supply. Toxic employees are protected and subpar performing employees are allowed to remain in their positions without consequence. It’s impossible to support and respect a CEO that is so oblivious to how disrespectful, unprofessional and out of touch his leadership team is.
