I worked at Sypris Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Worked there for five years. My pay increased by 55% which is good compensation growth. Good teamwork and working environment. Saw many improvements to the manufacturing process.

    Cons

The company was not landing good steady contracts, instead it downsized the whole time I was there. If the level of skills upgrades and improvements on the part of management is strong enough, only time will tell.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with your hourly workers. Treat people with respect and insure that this action becomes part of the company culture at every level.

I worked at Sypris Electronics (More than a year)

    Pros

There are good people peppered throughout the organization but none of them are in a position to make any meaningful decisions.

    Cons

Endless hours of thankless work. Benefits are not the greatest around and could definitely be better. Management is clueless to the real world facts. One person high up in pecking order in particular is more worried about their hair and crease in their trousers then what is actually going on in the daily stand up meeting. Be prepared to dedicate yourself to the job and have no life just to earn a meager paycheck. They layoff every year just before Christmas so your holiday season is nothing but stress and worry so you can't enjoy it. HR exists solely to ensure that the company doesn't get sued.

    Advice to Management

Fire everyone below the CEO and start over.

I worked at Sypris Electronics (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee base was very solid but never stuck because of the Sr. management. People (myself included) are suckered in by nice salaries and very empty promises. Even the money is not enough to keep good people.

    Cons

The President is a an arrogant self indulgent jerk that use the company as his private funding source. This is the politest way of saying this. There is ZERO regard for the staff and they exist solely to service the egos of the Sr. management.

The organization boldface lies about its offerings and have been known to steal from partners when it suits them.

    Advice to Management

Leave and never manage people or project again.

    Pros

The people I worked with were the best. I liked the fitness center and the cafe.

    Cons

It was too far to drive through tamp construction. The company did not bring in new work or new customers.

I worked at Sypris Electronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great employees with a great history and knowledge of the industry.

    Cons

    Culture is horrible.
    Layoffs are non-stop
Business is dying on the vine.
    Not focusing on core competencies
President is paranoid narcissist that is dismantling this company
    Employee turnover is 200%

    Advice to Management

The senior executives have allowed this business to be destroyed. The CEO and executive leadership have allowed the current president of this group to run it into the ground. Fire the president and focus on your competencies that once made this company great.

I worked at Sypris Electronics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The experience was grate while backlog was high. Good knowledgable local talent willing to participate to accomplish goals.

    Cons

Corporate focused in different market that did not match electrics divisions core compatant direction

    Advice to Management

Realize that the electronics division would thrive under different corporate leadership

I have been working at Sypris Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company has some great technology and manufacturing capabilities. They specialized in LEAN and the Toyota Process System. We produced some great products and ideas for products.

    Cons

We did not know how to deliver. We preferred to plan, re-plan and then explain to Louisville about our plan but were never held accountable for not delivering our plan. We never hit our targets, we blamed everything on the customers or lack there of. We were quick to have an excuse. We also always wanted to invest in every new technology that we could sell, but never enough investment to make a difference in any one technology. We were great at research, but poor at development.

    Advice to Management

Pick one or two areas for pursuit, and kill off the rest. Pick one or two horses to win, not the whole field. The management has too many layers. Why do we have so many VPs, Sr. Directors, Directors, and Managers? Do we have any employees?

I worked at Sypris Electronics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They were great to me, gave me good raises every year. It was an interresting place to work and i learned a lot working there.

    Cons

My supervisor for part of my time there was very unfair. I complained about him severl times and i was told it would be taken care of but that never happened. While i was there at least.

    Advice to Management

Value the employees that you have that you KNOW are doing a good job for you, and do what you can to keep them happy.
