I worked at TTX full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A 40 hour pay check every week

    Cons

Was a temp for two years and all the temps were laid off. Every month they tell you they are working on hiring you and then they don't.

    Advice to Management

Don't make promises to your employees and then let us all go. We have families. I don't recommend this job to anyone. There are too many other good ones out there that pay way more and don't lay off.

I worked at TTX full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits were excellent. New skills you learn on how to deal with stupid people and unqualified management. The culture of extremely divided groups of people. Constant talk about religion and politics.

    Cons

Project Management does not exist. Extremely chaotic environment. How you do your work does not matter, but what matter is how your manager presents your work to the higher management. Unqualified people are getting promoted and others are suffering because of that.

    Advice to Management

    Get some management courses

I have been working at TTX full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefit package and retirement also 4 day work week. Holidays and vacation. We have the tools to do the job with in a clean shop.

    Cons

Good O'l boy favoritism .A lot of crooked people doing shady things for personal gain. Some management use the company like its there own personal business & do whatever to benefit themselves. People are promoted on the good O'l boy system not because they deserve it, favoritism is rampant & sickening. Management from North Augusta is over our shop in Jacksonville , what a joke, managing us from hundreds of miles away. we don't care how y'all do things your not always right but they think they are. I've been with the company ever 25 years , I like my job & other mechanics I work with but cant stand management. The kaisan program they started a few years ago is a waste of time everybody hates it, we have people coming up with some stupid ideas trying to tell us how to do our job & they have zero knowledge of working on rail cars.

    Advice to Management

Thin the herd it's time for some people in management to go, I remember how things were years ago it was great now ,the moral is so low because of favortism.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Benefits are some of the best out there, most colleagues are friendly and willing to work with you, location is great too.

    Cons

Some people there for years tell others to "figure it out". Work not communicated well. Suggesting improvements sometimes matters, sometimes really doesn't.

    Advice to Management

None. Everyone has all the answers.

I have been working at TTX full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are second to none. Pay is not to bad. Railroad retirement has great benefits. Safety is a priority. The company is trying to become better.

    Cons

Lots of politics, hard to move up unless your willing to move. Employees complain a lot with each other cause there is 3 different pay scales.

    Advice to Management

The bonus is behind the times

I have been working at TTX full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good and experience of other people in other departments help learning about TTX helps. The people overall are great to work with and there are enough events to attend outside of work like the Corporate Challenge.

    Cons

The IT department does not know what it's doing and the IT management looks like it doesn't know what it's doing. There are always reorganizations in the IT department without much traction or results. The department is a joke in the company. IT is a very stressful place to work at TTX and morale is always low.

    Advice to Management

Change out the IT managers and some of the directors.
