Pros

Great technology good work-life balance. Great coworkers.

Cons

Very divisive culture. Lots of passive aggressive undertones and finger-pointing. Pays on the lower end of the spectrum unless you're in sales. Not the startup it once was.

Pros

Management is laid back, so laid back in fact they are hardly ever in the office. Free snacks in the break area were nice, and free coffee. Work/life balance, was ok. I worked at home from time to time. Those who did it more often, for some reason you could never get in touch with them, via email though.

Cons

The company has been in existence, for 10 years, and has still not shown a profit. That would be ok, if sales doubled from year to year, but they are looking at only slight increases since the started. The business is growing at an extremely slow rate. It should be upwards of 100 million in annual sales by now. Being a Canadian company it has its limitations on what marketing can do. The marketing dept is very small. If you ask for help on a project or an approval for something as simple as sending an outbound email, don't expect to get a response or any help in a timely manner. If you ask for help to write an email that meets company messaging, to send to prospects, and after 3 months of weekly meetings, and them telling us the importance of proper company messaging, they never did provide us with anything. Take a look at the website, any paragraph and tell me that it can't be written much better? One of the main folks who run this outfit, At this point, I don't think cares if the company makes a profit or not. I'd guess, the individual is happy continually getting gullible investors, to flush their money. The last batch of funding was close to 12 million, in April 2017. As long said persons high salary comes in, I don't think it is any difference if the company sinks or swims. Only my opinion here, but I was around enough to know from the behavior, said person didn't seem to have a worry in the world. Its that bad. Sales dept, gets no help from upper management. Upper management has little to no experience on how to offer support or direction to their sales staff, much less the leadership qualities it takes to bring the team together and hit their goals. Really sad in a way. There are certain things, in all sales teams, that are pretty much by the numbers techniques. They don't seem to know any of them.

Tasktop Response

As every staff member at Tasktop knows, we welcome all feedback on the company, both positive and negative. We have open channels, fireside chats, regular employee Net Promoter Score surveys and constant communication to make sure the company does not turn into anything resembling the company portrayed in this post. I respect the fact that we can’t be a perfect match for everybody and that we are not perfect. However, in terms of supporting Tasktop's core value of "Care for each other's growth, happiness & productivity”, I feel the need to address the aspects of this post that are inaccurate and misleading. First, we have evidence that post is almost certainly not from a current employee of Tasktop as is indicated. Also, the specific points make attacks on our departments and staff so I want to address each of these as they are misleading, incorrect, and made about people I care for deeply: * Accusation of staff who work from home of being unresponsive via email: We are not aware of that happening at all, and take a lot of pride in how responsive our staff is to each other across our various communication channels. This is a critical aspect of a company moving this fast and one that constantly strives to improve the support and social fabric for its remote staff. * Accusations of the marketing department and criticisms of the web site: We have reviewed all the points and think this particular rant seems off and unjustly provides criticism in an area and team that have become a core strength of the company. * Accusations of Sales leadership and management not caring and not being involved: The implications on lack of care, involvement and lack of help could not be further from the truth in terms of our approach. We do recognize that some roles can feel more isolated, and always continue to look for ways to address that. * Accusation of us not being profitable, growing too slowly, and wasting investors’ money: This is could not be more inaccurate from our investors’ point of view. Our post investment year-on-year growth rate has been great and our investors are very happy with it. As with other venture backed startups creating something genuinely new, our goal is optimizing for growth and impact, and I’m very proud of the progress that Tasktopians’ have been making on both fronts! Pros

I get to be part of a company that is defining a new space and helping companies improve their software delivery practices in a way that many didn't think was possible. Tasktop is full of great people which makes it easy to come to work.

Cons

Nothing negative to say about working at Tasktop
