Heed the advice of these reviews

Pros

As you will see throughout recent reviews, many people at TRAG are bright, thoughtful, and engaged. I found this to be particularly true of those at the associate and senior associate level - all of whom bring their unique experience to bear on the (usually) interesting and varied work. TRAG also has relatively strong name recognition in the sector, which could be a benefit if you're considering staying in the DD/Investigations space for your career.

Cons

My advice to a prospective TRAG employee is to heed the advice shared in the most recent Glassdoor reviews for the firm. My own experience at TRAG was fraught with the same issues these former employees have raised. Among others, they include: Limited work/life balance: regardless of your position, you will work 55-60 hours per week. I personally had several 15+ hours days, including on bank holidays. The interesting nature of the work is a moot point when you’re struggling to keep up. Abysmal compensation: you will see this as the most consistent point of concern for former TRAG employees. It is absolutely true, and TRAG pays well below market rate for the research associate, associate, and senior associate positions. If you’re looking for company willing to compensate you fairly for your time (lots of time!) and expertise, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Toxic leadership: I cannot underscore this point enough. With a few important exceptions, such as the firm’s de facto COO, you will not find supportive leadership at TRAG. What you will find is a cadre of uninspiring, oftentimes petty, directors who show no concern for those below them. Heed the advice of those who have taken the time to write these reviews, avoid TRAG at all costs.

Think Twice

Pros

HR and all the people I met during the interview stages were very nice and approachable.

Cons

Just less than 2 weeks before my official start date in 2023, I was told that there were some "business changes" and that my position was to be resigned. I thought this was highly unprofessional and would advice anybody that is about to work with this company to think twice before making a decision.

Excellent people, great growth opportunities, demanding and stimulating work

Pros

I spent a number of years working at Risk Advisory and had the opportunity to complete extended stints in several of its global offices. Throughout my time there, I was impressed by the high intellectual calibre of my co-workers, the breadth of different issues we covered as a firm and the growth opportunities that were afforded to talented recruits. Employees with good ideas and ambition were encouraged to take ownership of their vision and pursue initiatives for which they had identified a potential market, and recognised for their effort. This recognition often took the form of secondments to different overseas offices, management responsibility and wider exposure to client-facing opportunities. The people I worked with were dedicated and hard-working, but also interesting, engaging and professional.

Cons

While I was working at Risk Advisory, we frequently heard urban legends about how our competitors paid their staff much more. However, in the course of my subsequent conversations with colleagues working at other firms, I learned that this is not necessarily the case. Certainly, there is some variation but whatever differences may exist in base salary levels are more than made up for (in my opinion anyway) by the flexibility I was afforded and the generous annual leave and health insurance benefits offered to employees.
