I worked at Tuthill full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    office chairs were fantastic!
    Work was exciting
Good people to work with (not for)

    Cons

Conscious company has created a cult like environment. You do not realize how oppressive the atmosphere is till you are actually removed from it. Not that you are really "oppressed", but if it is not a TBS tool it is considered garbage.

    Advice to Management

go back to the basics and forget the touchy feely stuff. Save yourself millions of bucks per year and just do the right thing. It really isn't rocket science.

I worked at Tuthill full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some great, knowledgeable people who truly care about the products and the customers.

    Cons

There are a select few in upper management who are destroying this company and the decades of hard work that others have put in to it. Their egos are too big and their decisions are selfish.

    Advice to Management

Clean house in executive and upper management.

Tuthill is full of great people. It's one of the number one things we hear when receiving employee feedback. We're excited to be celebrating 125 years of this right now. No doubt we've had our... More

I have been working at Tuthill full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I personally make a very good wage for this area.
Insurance & benefits are very good.
That being said, Money is not everything.

    Cons

They call it Conscious company? It's really whatever they Corporate feel you need to believe.
I personally feel the company is more of out with the old & in with the new.
"Old school" does not have any future here. You make too much $$, too much vacation time
and are basically an insurance liability anymore!
If you play the game & tell them what they want to hear you will stay around for awhile anyway.
Never seen a company that has to have so many meetings a day!
Why can't employees just come to work, do their job the best they can & go home to their family?
    Micro Management at it's best!

    Advice to Management

You are way overloading your workers!
    Beating them down.
A person can only do so much..... real good in a day.
The company uses everything & anything product wise
if it's to spec or not to meet on time shipments.
Not what the customer believes they are paying for!

    Pros

    Work/life balance, work/employee acknowledged

    Cons

    Diversity, career development, no prospects

    Advice to Management

Conscious company and radical leadership are spoon fed to employees in an almost dogmatic fashion. Need to find a better balance between company values and employee personal values.

    Pros

They spend a lot of time building and teaching team values. I learned more from Radical Leadership training than I did all of my years in college. They also work very seriously on their company mission and working with employees to strive to hit their goals.

    Cons

Once you have been through Radical Leadership you believe that is how you should behave. Depending on the person you are working for this can be misleading. Stating the truth and your opinion still feels like being politically incorrect and does tend to get employees into trouble.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work with management on radical leadership - continuous improvement is wonderful however teach the leaders how to show up as every day people
