I worked at Unwired Planet full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There were still plenty of folks around who were very bright. Lots of clever ideas, and features/ capabilities that later showed up in certain iProducts that were very well received.

    Cons

Corp direction was best described as "paint splatter" - not enough synergy between multiple product lines

    Advice to Management

Focus on a reasonable list of products. Don't try to be all things to all players, because you've pretty much defined the Peanut butter manifesto

    Pros

    Competitive salary
    cutting edge products
Great atmosphere in work place, so all in all if you get a chance I would recommend working for Openwave.

    Cons

We used to be the leader in our market until we lost sight of our target and now other companies are winning our business

    Advice to Management

With a new CEO at the helm I think upper management is focused and should achieve great things for the company, well see!

    Pros

The campus is nice. Good walking trails by the bay.

    Cons

Product and senior management seems to have no idea how to move forward on some of their flagship products. I saw much wasted time, money, and opportunity go down the drain on projects that went absolutely nowhere.

    Pros

good office facility, including a great gym and a decent cafe on campus
    some talented people
    decent work-life balance
    casual work environment

    Cons

    lack of focus and chaotic
    no innovation
    can not execute
a lot of dead weights for a small company
    too much finger pointing

    Advice to Management

company has recently announced a 20% RIF, but laying off worker bees but not executives will not fix the problem, only the short term bottom line. The board needs to install a brand new team to get the company out of the death spiral. Even than, it may be too late.
