    Pros

Update is a great company that definitely provides its employees with the opportunity to be great and carve their own path.
Update definitely promotes and awards innovation and hard work.
Update may actually be the most flexible legal staffing agency I know of because of their genuine interest and concerns.
You want to work hard and be valued then Update Legal is where you want to be!

    Cons

    Lack of Sales depth
Sometimes a little too hands off

    Advice to Management

Be steady stand by your gut on all business decisions. Keep leading and promoting initiative and you will continue to be appreciated.

But, try being a little bit more hands with certain departments. People respect and value your input so if you continue to offer it you can assist in taking this company to the next level!

    Pros

Promotes female leadership President, COO and EVP are all female and grew from within. New and exciting direction for later this year.

    Cons

Small company. Some people have been here too long and need to leave. The changes in the beginning of the year were tough but we made it through.

    Advice to Management

Keep it going. You are an inspiration for females and your dedication to Update has never wavered.

    Cons

Waste of time, projects that never materialize, lengthy forms to fill out, in person interview required when no projects are available

    Advice to Management

Dont waste prospective employee's time if you don't have projects to staff

    Pros

Recent management changes have really made a difference in the work environment and communication. There is a better connection to clients, candidates, and improved internal collaboration. There is also a direct line of communication to upper management making it easy to express new ideas.

    Cons

Not a lot of remote work flexibility

    Advice to Management

Keep up the trend of improving the culture and continue the open communication.

I have been working at Update Legal full-time

    Pros

    We get paid on time
Nice location in NYC and Florida

    Cons

There is no vacation or time off. Whenever you try to take vacation they will just not let you take it.
The love to work long hours, if you leave at 7 they will look at you in a strange way.

    Advice to Management

President, COO - you got promoted too quickly to the top, but you really have no external experience.
You run executive management as if you a lawyer and your job is a case. Dosen't work.
Yea getting lunch and bagels is nice, but what we need is strong leadership.
You struggle to make decisions and don't stand by them either.

    Pros

nice time off, fun meeting with new contractors

    Cons

communication among the offices needs to be improved greatly

    Advice to Management

Learn to address the negative work environment. Employees feel out of the loop and are not being the most productive as they can be.

    Pros

Everyone is really friendly. Great people to work with.

    Cons

Leadership is sometimes lacking. Not a lot of transparency. Upper management has favorites, if you are not one of them you will essentially be ignored or scrutinized. A lot of drama and politics. High turnover rate, poor compensation. Major downsizing has now happened twice within a year. Spinning this as a good thing. People doing too many jobs and not even getting paid for one.

I worked at Update Legal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    I can't think of any

    Cons

Core business is electronic discovery. No opportunity for junior sales reps to succeed as all major law firms owned by a senior sales rep (and smaller firms don't have a high volume of e-discovery). Recruiters aren't paid on commission so have zero motivation to actively recruit for a non document review project. High turnover and run by a mean girl clique that had zero work experience prior to Update Legal.
