Pros

Both founders of the company are within arms reach, whenever you feel like you have a problem you need to take to the highest level, their doors are always open. The workplace atmosphere is very laid back. Casual, but professional dress is Ok, personal days are not hard to come by, as long as you are not abusing them. As long as you get your work done, you can come and go as you please. There is a "family atmosphere" within Video Insight. Like all things related to family, there are times when this can be annoying, but when you are in need of a hand professionally or outside the office, VI management/employees are there to lend a hand. Promotions are merit based, for the most part. In my previous experiences, I have found that some employers will promote with a political motivation or a bias towards one employee over another. VI has its moments when it feels like this is going on, but 9 times out of 10, the better/ more qualified person gets the job.

Cons

Communication between departments is not always the greatest. There are several instances of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. VI is a smaller company, so this can be very frustrating and at times can leave the wrong people picking up the pieces. My time at VI has shown improvements in this, but it is definitely something that continually needs to be worked on. Professionalism does not seem to be everyone's priority all of the time. This could be symptom of the laid back atmosphere, but some tend to take advantage of this; and at times it can be detrimental to the customer. At times, moving up in the company can appear to be stagnant. Because VI is a smaller company, there tends to be a "Highlander" attitude towards promotions. There are times where if you are in the lower levels of employment at VI, you feel like someone will have to leave the company for you to have a chance to move up. VI Management handles this well most of the time, but there are times when people feel trapped and tend to bring down morale.

Pros

They allow you to work independently to do the job they hired you for. Good health benefits 100% paid for by company.

Cons

No real training on product knowledge this is up to you to inform yourself. Management is unresponsive main VP is out traveling much of the time never meets with teams to understand productivity or lack thereof. You either hit numbers or you don't. No real strategy on how to go to market or discuss duplicating successes achieved by other territories. Commissions and bonuses aren't performance based. Very political.
