I have been working at Ward Manufacturing full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Ward MFG is continually making improvements in working condtions for the employees. They are very conscious bouth their safefety and the environment. There is a continuing education program in place along with great health benefits available. I also have a boss that appreciates what I do.

    Cons

Ward MFG is a union shop and is subject to a possible strike every three years. There is also sometimes a lack of communications between departments, which has a negative effect.

    Advice to Management

Positive communication between departments is key to work smoothly as a team.

I have been working at Ward Manufacturing (More than a year)

    Pros

We spend so much of our time in our work lives - culture is extremely important part of a company. I am thrilled to have the privilege to be a part of the WARD family where I enjoy "showing up" everyday.

    Cons

Although limited resources out in the field to promote the brand, this is an area that Sr. Management is aware of and is working to change moving forward.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build upon the culture you have made in the past few years, along with the history upon where WARD was founded. It's been a pleasure to be a part of and the positive change has been apparent with the employees that have been with the WARD family for years.

    Pros

The pay is premium for the area, but not competitive outside the area. If you have talent, it is best to seek proper compensation in an organization that promotes a positive environment and superior pay.

    Cons

If you are an hourly employee, be prepared to be put on an off shift or work in a department senior employees know to avoid. Not all employees are eager to share their knowledge, good luck finding the few that do. If you are a salaried employee, be prepared to be judged by your knowledge, ethics, and if you "fit". A lot of senior salaried employees mastered the art of throwing people under the bus to keep their heads above water. Make no mistake, despite the advancements made in technology with regards to the production equipment, the same problems exist. Mostly, that offshore competition is eating this company's lunch. Itis only a matter of time until it is no longer viable to remain in business producing the same commodities that offshore businesses produce for fraction of the raw material expense domestically.

    Advice to Management

The employees are not enemies of the corporation, better realize that if not for a small group of people with devotion and skills, the company would cease to exist. Retaining and attracting such talent will be increasingly difficult without addressing the atmosphere and compensation aspects.

    Pros

A positive work experience in a high-tech, positive, team oriented, training oriented, automated manufacturing environment. My particular team was especially achieved many great things and was often acknowledged by management.

    Cons

There never seems to be enough time, in a high tech manufacturing company, to become overly familiar with all of the older systems before they become obsolete. Learning to migrate to new technologies provides one with experience in both old and new. However one should be thankful for experiencing both; because not all companies are able to keep up.
