I have been working at WorkMarket full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Brilliant management team
-Transparency into everything from hiring decisions to finances
-Options for mobility within the organization
-Engineers get to work with all the latest tech
-Company is growing, addressable market is huge
-Really big clients getting signed left and right

    Cons

-Sales often oversells the product to customers on pieces of the roadmap they know won't be available for another six months to a year
-Customer success managers are more tier 1 support than part of the sales process, they like to just push problems onto engineering
-Engineers could be a bit more disciplined

    Advice to Management

Sell the product we have, not the literal features a customer thinks they want.

I have been working at WorkMarket full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - leadership is top notch: you can't ask more from the C-Suit here.
    - product team is hustling their butts off to meet client demand in terms of new features that really solve problems
    - team leaders/senior members of the team are there to help and want to see you grow
    - investment into sales tools from lead gen to automation practices all the way to the marketing engine is turned on
    - 1:1 relationship with what is promised and what's delivered

    Cons

    - product teams can't move fast enough to meet client demands. This is common in any software company so not a good problem.
    - product is ahead of its time in many ways and several prospects are not ready to adopt such a disruptive solution. Again a common issue for innovative software solution and a good problem to have. Early adopters of the solution are game changers in their industry.

    Advice to Management

    - keep growing the product team and hiring according to plan

    Pros

Start up, Fast & loose. Beer tap!

    Cons

Fast & loose. Too many CRM/process/strategy changes daily! Lacking the time to train employees with so many moving parts.

    Advice to Management

The larger the "deal" the less control you have, expect it.

Great company to work for as freelance engineer

I have been working at WorkMarket full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work Market is the first true startup that I have worked for and its been a great career choice. Its moving towards a product driven culture that uses data and research to make decisions. There is a defined vision coming from the top of the company that is filtered down to the different departments. There is a good balance of drive to be successful and a flexible culture with different senior management leads pushing their teams to be better each day.

    Cons

Since the company is growing we are adding a number of people, especially in engineering, so there is sometimes a gap in domain knowledge and getting people up to speed. We are also moving away from a sales driven culture and there are some pain points with communicating with sales and the process there.

    Advice to Management

Continued transparency and communication of goals, roadmap and vision across the company.

I have been working at WorkMarket full-time

    Pros

Experienced Senior Leadership -- they've been there, done that, and succeeded, so this isn't their first go around.
The business is in is a massively growing market.
Lots of stuff to learn and ability to grow professionally.

    Cons

Sometimes the legacy code isn't wonderful to work in, but things have definitely improved since I got here, and the new architecture is making things considerably better.

As others have said, this is a startup, set your expectations accordingly.

    Advice to Management

Mostly, just stay the course and continue to execute, execute, execute. Direction is solid, keep up the good work keeping the relationship between engineering and product healthy.

I have been working at WorkMarket full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Brilliant, seasoned C-Level management team with years of valuable experience. Clearly articulated vision for the company and the product. Tons of transparency, remaining founder is willing to share anything. Great office space with many amenities and perks. Great location, flexible hours and unlimited vacation.

    Cons

Some of the longer tenured employees are in positions merely because they were here first, not because they are the most qualified for the position. They wouldn’t even be considered for these positions if they interviewed today. Fortunately, these employees mostly have minimal impact to the business and this is slowly improving as we grow.

    Advice to Management

Engineering needs more accountability, particular for the consistent under performers. One engineering manager in particular continuously protects some of the under performers he has deemed his favorites, much to the confusion of others. Not addressing this behavior continues to decrease morale.

    Pros

    Flexible Work Schedule
    Variety of Assignments Available
Interaction with many of the same tech support personnel

    Cons

Many vendors gearing towards lowest cost instead of highest quality of work performed
Unskilled workforce being directed to assignments due to low cost
Professional experienced workforce reserved to clean up after trainees due to higher costs instead of being sent out to get it right the first time

    Advice to Management

The cost of a professional outweighs multiple visits from a beginner

    Pros

    nice office space and technology.

    Cons

Recently turned over their management team. New team has no sense of direction and is solely focused on bringing in people that think like them.

You can inversely predict how long a technology employee will last based on their capabilities.

    Advice to Management

Either find new technical management or every one will continue to just try to fit in rather then improve the product.
