I have been working at Worksmith full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The problem we are solving is very real, so finding value in your work is not hard. Everyone is smart, hardworking, and genuinely kind - I'm constantly impressed with the team on a professional level and the days are fun on a personal level. The work is hard, but in a good way - I leave the office feeling accomplished and excited about coming back the next day.

    Cons

This is a small, scrappy company - resources are not always there, so you have to work hard and be creative to get things done.

    Pros

Worksmith is a high energy workplace with a group of fun and hardworking team players who want to help you succeed. If you have an idea about how to do something better, you’re empowered to put it in to action and bring others alongside you. You have autonomy and creativity to do your job well while having challenging goals to meet. Hard work is celebrated, and there are frequent group outings and in-office events...

    Cons

There are some frustrations that come with startup life - most solutions are either broken in some way or don’t yet exist, departments lobbying for their feature requests taking priority on the tech roadmap, and growing pains of a small team growing to 40+ within a year. But, if being a part of an innovative tech startup is your goal, you should know to expect some of these challenges.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep your employees in the loop and able to provide input about department goals and company trajectory - we all chose to be at a startup because getting to be a part of that process is exciting!

    Cons

Start-ups aren't built on the punch in punch out schedule. It takes a lot of hard work and perseverance to create a successful company and here it is no different. Showing up early and working after hours isn't for everyone but it's necessary at times to reach your goals.

    Advice to Management

Keep on keepin' on! The energy you bring day in and day out is infectious and brings out the best in the team. Outstanding at communicating and gives every employee the tools to be successful in a fast-paced environment.

-Surrounded by smart, hard working people who love their jobs and want to build something great together -Opportunity to take initiative! If something's missing from Worksmith, organize a committee to address it, or take it upon yourself to make the change. No one will hold you back, and many will join you! -Management that truly cares about you as an individual. Frequent 1:1 meetings that give you the opportunity...

    Cons

-Scrappy start up, so you're not going to have crazy perks like beer on tap, paid gym memberships, or matching 401k

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! Stay transparent about our strategy. Other companies leave strategy to the "higher ups" but it's so important for each and every person to understand not only WHAT they have to do, but WHY we're doing it and WHY we've opted to do things a certain way. It will become challenging as we scale I'm sure, but the more we can keep communicating across departments and stay aligned on the overarching...

    Pros

A young and exciting company that provides a ton of opportunity for its employees to grow as the business grows. You are really able to see your impact on the business as a whole. Every day there are new and exciting problems to solve, and it is very much a team effort to get things done.

    Cons

One of the sayings we always fall back to is, "At a startup, everything is either broken or it doesn't exist yet." This rings true at Worksmith, and for some people that can be frustrating. Personally, I see it as a challenge and an opportunity to build something, but those challenges aren't for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Keep cultivating a culture of greatness and positivity!

I have been working at Worksmith full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They are constantly looking to improve their product, which provides a lot of opportunities to contribute ideas, implement processes, and provide feedback. They try to do frequent Q&A's with the CEO so people can bring up questions or concerns. There are frequent team outings like ping pong tournaments or happy hours. Unlimited vacation and sick time policy.

    Cons

The leadership team is very young and inexperienced. Their goals are set only in short-term - everyone is basically just working month-to-month with no real idea for what the goals are in the long term. The end of each month is chaos trying to reach goals, and then it resets at the beginning of the month. They pulled people from the jobs they were hired for and career paths they want to temporarily do another job since...

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and compensate them for the amount of work that is expected of them. Set long-term goals, even if they need to evolve. People want to work somewhere with a vision and focus, while also understanding that changes will happen within a startup.

    Pros

Great team to work with. Everyone is enthusiastic and really trying to accomplish goals. Ideas are heard and taken into consideration. All work is impactful and nothing is "busy work"
