I have been working at XTO Energy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fast Paced environment. Wonderful Co-Workers. Compensation is excellent and benefits are great.

    Cons

Work culture has changed from the laid back style to the more corporate ExxonMobil style. Huge rumor mill across all departments. Need more more communication from department supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Supervisors need training on how to communicate with their direct reports.

I have been working at XTO Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people that work here are generally good, kind-hearted, down to earth people.

    Cons

Having been an employee of a company that was acquired by XTO, I would say that feeling like an outcast is not very pleasant. I am also not a fan of the competitive nature that is encouraged among engineers. To me, that does not encourage productive teamwork that is necessary to the success of an operation.

    Advice to Management

Treat the employees that you acquired with dignity. Be transparent as possible with them. If you know that there is not a future for them with the company and you do not have anything for them to do, let them go home and pay them what they're owed.

I worked at XTO Energy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Not in a office

    Cons

Forced ranking and exxon politics have polluted the company the past few years since all Xto mgmt were asked to retire. Used to be a very open empowering place to work and family oriented. If you are a politician or b noser you will go far here.

    Advice to Management

Field management are very inexperienced and need to be let go or retrained. Exxon Engineers have no real world common sense. Listen to the people who actually add value to company and do the real work and leave them alone.
