Not an environment for the weak

      Pros

For those who are aggressive and motivated, iCore offers an environment for you to make your own career path happen. Those who have become successful in the company (including those not in Sales), all have the same ingredients, a drive to succeed. No, at iCore you don't get to work "flex hours" or get 5 weeks of vacation. iCore is all about success, and to be successful it requires a lot of effort and drive. iCore rewards employees in promotions, company wide recognition and awards.- All of which are always well deserved to the recipients. You are given the opportunity to not just become a number at a large company. iCore offers everything all the reviews mention: Career growth, financial growth and personal growth. In the short time I have been employed here I have grown personally and professional because the environment works for me. I enjoy seeing my day fly by and not being bored. iCore offers challenges and growth. We are a work hard, play hard group!

      Cons

-Strong personalities can often be challenging to work with, but everyone is still professional. It is what you make it. -Don't come here looking for everyone to become your next best friend, this is a business not a sorority. -Be prepared to work a lot- time management is everything here. -Every department can be under a lot of pressure at the end of the month

      Purpose, Passion and Potential

      Pros

I believe that one of the greatest things about iCore is the sense of purpose you are given each day. Without a doubt, your days are filled with enough significant duties that make you feel like you have a large impact on the company. No employee feels forgotten because no employee has work on their plate that does not strongly affect the person sitting next to them. Everyone here loves their work. Each completed assignment is fulfilling and recognized. With a strong work ethic and positive attitude, the potential to move up in this company is unlike any other organization I have seen. I have been here for less than a year and have already been promoted. At iCore, what you give is what you get and you have the ability to shape your own future which is one of the strongest and most beneficial characteristics any company can provide.

      Cons

Long 12 hour days The constant feeling of thinking you need to check your email even when you are not at work

A company that requires you to sell your soul...

Apr 24, 2014 - Finance in McLean, VA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Some of the hardest working young employees you will ever meet!

      Cons

Upper management is unreasonable and unwilling to listen to outside influences even if you have a great amount of experience in your role. Too much power is handed to the Executive team who knows little to nothing about the areas they manage (particularly in Finance) and many GAAP guidelines are failed to be followed or heeded, the accounting is often "creative". 90% of the sales team is completely unethical and flat out lie to potential/new customers. Customer service is not a priority, only revenue is. As long as you know who to brown nose with, you'll get promoted and but on a pedestal. Employees are micromanaged to the point they are incapable of self regulation and supervision if they've been there for a long time. Last but certainly not least, there is absolutely no work life balance and god help you if you have a family and family members who for various reasons have special needs. Be prepared to be expected to work 10+ hours a day and be looked at as "not a team player" if you don't. The reason for the long hours? A technology company who expects you to perform at ridiculous rates with horrible hardware setups and outdated software. You cannot succeed here while you don't have the tools or support from management.

Enticing at first, but I was never more ready to leave

      Pros

-Young, hip culture. iCore tends to hire recent grads as they tend to be more eager, willing and hard working. CEO likes to use slang terminology. Music blasting after 4PM in the Sales Dept. -Free breakfast Wednesdays during All-hands meeting with the entire company -Reward and recognition. iCore awards top performers with plaques, fancy dinners, tropical getaways, and sometimes monetary compensation. -Company/team events. Holiday party, summer outing, in-office happy hours, monthly close-out pizza and beer. -Occasional sporting event tickets are up for grabs if Sales doesn't need them -Rapidly expanding offices in other major cities, opportunity to relocate if you're good enough -Onboarding/training process is comparable. -Hire generally above average-looking employees

      Cons

-Recruitment process is 3 interviews. Initial, meeting with director, day in the field, and meeting with CEO or President. -13-14 hour work days are normal/daily. Work-life balance is nearly non-existent. -Starting base pay is very, very low. Even after negotiations, a $5000 increase ONLY after 6 months performance review. -"Coordinators" are basically personal assistants to the directors. -Two weeks PTO (vacation, sick, family leave). -Although high-energy, environment is always in an "emergency" state. MUST pick up phone on the first ring, MUST respond to e-mails right away, MUST come back to office immediately at the director's beck and call. -Sales Director pins subordinates against each other. Encouraging aggressive, hostile working circumstances. Almost too competitive. Many instances of crying in the office. -Sales team promises this and that to the client, but unable to deliver due to lack of technical skills/understaffed by the engineer team. -Sales team is the almighty. Anything goes for them. -A lot of office gossip and inter-office dating, hooking up. -Stressful, stressful STRESSFUL.

Good Place to Start a Career, Terrible Place to Be

      Pros

Lots of smart, driven young people to work with Company culture encourages innovation and achievement Lots of opportunities of learning and Promotion Company often hires people with little experience, giving young professionals a good way to start their career

      Cons

Company culture promotes 0 work life balance--people are literally berated and bad-mouthed for not working (most often unpaid) overtime Management makes promises which are never kept Innocent people are scapegoated for the bad decisions of management No independent HR system to speak of Little to no training for assigned tasks Company operates on chronic under-staffing in all departments Independent thought on all but a very narrow range of issues is discouraged Company asks its employees to write (fake) reviews on Glassdoor People are treated as disposable Promotions are handed out based on dire need and not on necessarily on merit (this one is on and off) Problems are only dealt with after they arise, little or no pre-planning is made Lack of enough employees causes constant atmosphere of emergency Lack of training, enough people, and guidelines causes major stress for operations (project management, customer service, engineering, and field techs)

      Run!

Jun 25, 2015 - Account Manager in McLean, VA
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Commission structure is really good - higher than competitors. If you're in sales you can make a lot of money. Nice office space. Colleagues are mostly pretty cool. Benefits package is stellar.

      Cons

This is the absolute worst work environment I have ever witnessed. First of all, expect to work extremely long hours every single day - if you have a family, RUN! This is only feasible for individuals who are either A.) Single, or B.) Fresh out of college and don't know any better. Secondly, management will try and motivate you by telling you how disposable you are and how everyone who has ever left practically begs to come back because it really is "the best job you will ever have" and it takes leaving the company to realize it. The truth is, you are 100% disposable, but no one wants to come back because any company is better than this place. Personally, I've never found this to be motivating - just stressful...more stressful than what it's actually worth. This is the epitome of a boys club - sorry ladies, you will have to work a full day while the gentlemen go golfing, or drinking, or whatever else they can find to do. You can also expect to see men get promoted really fast...females, good luck. Lastly, those positive reviews you see on here are all fake - marketing requests people to write positive reviews to bring the rating up (notice that the posting dates are all within the same few days? That's not a coincidence.)

      Experience

      Business Outlook

      Pros

iCore is diverse with employees of all types of characters which forms an interesting experience within the company. Everyone is willing to help one another and share ideas or knowledge that strengthens the company as a whole. In my time here, I've grown so much with iCore not just personally, but professionally. They provide an endless amount informational resources and training. Everyday there's something new to gain!

      Cons

The company undergoes constant changes rather quickly, but only because the company itself is always growing and expanding. Although it may be hard for others to adapt and adjust to the growing pains, I actually enjoy them and take it on as a challenge and learning experience.

      Fast-Paced Rewarding Place to Work

Jan 6, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in McLean, VA
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

High-energy, fast paced, opportunities to learn and grow with the company. There is a focus on becoming better every day, and growing the company. If you work hard and perform at or above expectations, promotions and salary increases are yours for the taking.

      Cons

Very busy place to work. You start early and leave late, but in the corporate world, that's the norm. You aren't going to "make it" by working 6 hours a day. This place is for the serious employee only. As they say, if you want a career, this is the place for you. If you just want a job, you won't last/make it. Due to it's fast growth, some things fall through the cracks, but they are aware of that and are constantly working to improve/fix/get better.

Up and coming private company; management's communication of expectations often unclear

Jul 21, 2014 - Anonymous in McLean, VA

      Pros

Your hard work is almost always recognized by upper management. The sales team of iCore is like a family. Competitive atmosphere but also positively promoting of hard work and consistent recognition of hard work. Promotion is very attainable. Good pay.

      Cons

Lack of communication between management and sales department. Expectations are not standardized and protocols for organizing information is not standardized and is rarely communicated. At times, upper management is very vague and does not provide clear instructions or outlines of expectations. This creates discrepancies between sales employees and management and also leads to things done "incorrectly" that were otherwise perceived of as being correct because management had not provided clear expectations prior. Management only clarifies expectations after something is done incorrectly. The workplace would be much more efficient if communication between management and sales was much more frequent and specific. Also, I have noted that there is not a work/life balance. Management assumes that your entire life is iCore. That is not the case...for me, at least.
