I have been working at vcfo part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company values are upheld across the company and they believe in volunteering opportunities and giving back to the community which is a huge plus for me. The company mission is to make companies stronger and they uphold all levels of the company to do just that.

    Cons

I have not experienced any downside other than some outdated technologies that need some upgrading. This is a simple fix and would not consider it a true con.

    Advice to Management

Take steps necessary in 2017 to make upgrades to internal databases and collaboration tools to be proactive of latest releases and changes to technology.

I have been working at vcfo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very interesting clients, great tools, supportive back office staff and great collaboration among colleagues.
This is a very fulfilling work style for people with good time management skills (very flexible and great emphasis on life balance, but very committed to client’s deadlines and deliverables). Good health benefits, 401K, and training initiatives. Nice feeling to be part of a well-established team (20 years in Austin) with long term outlook.

    Cons

Consulting work with multiple clients is definitely not for everyone. This is the definition of multi-tasking and adjusting daily to new teams/routines. But if you can handle the fluctuations, it is a great experience.

    Advice to Management

Because we are at client locations most of the time, we don’t see our colleagues much.
Keep up with the staff meetings and monthly training sessions! Those are helpful for team building and keeping our skills sharp.

    I worked at vcfo full-time

    Pros

Flexibility in hours and vacation, well-known company in Austin, Health Savings Accounts, central location, involved in philanthropic events in the community.

    Cons

Ask about their turnover/retention rate of their employees. Constant emails at night and weekends with the expectation to be answered during those times. Churn and burn company with no heads up on discontent from management.

    Advice to Management

If your turnover rate is constantly high, then the problem is with the company not the employee. Communication from upper management would be a place to start....

    Pros

Great culture, supportive staff. With an excellent client base and reputation, it helps to open doors for new clients. Co-workers are professional, no gossip, no drama, everyone just does his or her job.

    Cons

Work-live balance, it would be nice to work from the house 1 or 2 days a week.

    I worked at vcfo full-time

    Pros

Great experience, very nice people. I find the clients to be appreciative, and very welcoming. Some leads have great synergy and are a pleasure to have on your team.

    Cons

Not all your hours are "billable," and some leads can be more concerned about the hours you bill rather than the quality of work performed because they fear the client will balk at the hours. Felt clients were, at times, short-changed because of shifting project commitments.

    Advice to Management

By having compensation completely dependent on billable hours, it encourages an employee to take on too many projects, just to ensure a full paycheck. This short-changes a client in the end, and is not good for an employee as it encourages burn-out.

I have been working at vcfo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Offers wonderful access to local companies who need support and executive services but aren't ready or able to make commitment to fulltime employees

    Cons

Rarely a set schedule and you can't always do what you know needs to be done while working with clients with limited resources and capabilities can be a challenge

    Advice to Management

Continue to find ways to bring our people together as a team.
