Initiatives that save lives The Commercial team organized Pink Day last week as part of its effort to spread the word about the importance of preventing Breast Cancer. They have also prepared a memorial wall for anyone who wishes to honor a family member or friend. This initiative originated from three team members who lost family members to breast cancer. Therefore, it is very important for them to alert all women about this disease and clarify that the best protection is early detection. "October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Tiffany Reed, Jill Lofton, and I (Elisha Reed) have lost family members to this horrible disease, and many others have. We wanted to make women aware of the importance of mammograms and yearly exams. Each ribbon represents a fighter or someone who has been impacted. Our Commercial Group was excited to join us in the Pink Out Day. We learned by handing out the ribbons so many of our coworkers had been affected by breast cancer.", says Elisha.
The first Friday of October was designated in 2014 as a day to recognize and celebrate manufacturing in the United States. This is the industry's largest annual event to celebrate modern manufacturing and inspire the next generation of talent to pursue careers in manufacturing. AM/NS Calvert connects with K-12 students, as well as technical and university students, to introduce the science and technology behind our processes and the varied career opportunities in this sector. Meet Chuck Greene, the new Chief Executive Officer of AM/NS Calvert. Chuck has been a part of our Calvert team since 2018 as our Chief Operations Officer. Chuck started his career in manufacturing back in 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, USA. Chuck is an integral part of our leadership team and is invested in the purpose and values of our organization. He and his family reside in Mobile and enjoy the many opportunities our community offers.
Our organizational structure will be changing in the near future. This is our last week with Jorge Oliveira as our Chief Executive Officer. Jorge was nominated for a new position within ArcelorMittal which will take him back to his home country of Brazil as the Chief Executive Officer of Flat Carbon South America. We appreciate Jorge’s leadership over the past two years and his commitment to the organization and our community. We wish Jorge much success in his new position and a safe return. Charles "Chuck" GREENE, Manager of ArcelorMittal and chief operating officer AM/NS Calvert is nominated General Manager of ArcelorMittal and is appointed president and chief executive officer AM/NS Calvert, effective 1st September 2021. Chuck is replacing Jorge Luiz RIBEIRO DE OLIVEIRA who is taking new responsibilities within the group. Chuck will report to John BRETT, Executive Vice President of ArcelorMittal and chief executive officer North America. Chuck joined the group at AM/NS Calvert in 2018 as chief operating officer.
