We held a ceremonial groundbreaking with a small gathering of leadership due to the ongoing pandemic. This significant investment in our facility was announced in December 2020 by ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation. “While the team at AM/NS Calvert would prefer thanking each of our supporters who were critical to the approval of this project in-person, we look forward to celebrating this achievement when the new facility comes online in H1 2023,” comments Jorge Oliveria, AM/NS Calvert CEO, “We certainly could not have gained approvals for this investment without the support of our government and community stakeholders.” This project and great achievement is possible because of the hard work and dedication of our team members. #investment #project #mandeinlabama

Being up-to-date, evolving, improving procedures, all of these are essential to maintain a sustainable business. And who better to suggest such changes and improvements than our team members? After all, they are the ones who execute the tasks daily. With this in mind, AM/NS Calvert launched a transformation program called Calvert Plus. The program aims to identify activities that must be improved and transform the way we work. The coolest of all is that the team member is who suggests this transformation. All members can submit ideas. No matter if it is simple or complex, all ideas are welcome and evaluated. Once evaluated, ideas become initiatives that team members work together to implement sustainable changes in the way we work. Every day, we are building a better future together. #building #transformation #business #transformingtomorrow #strengthenedbypeople #innovationsinsteel
Once a month, we hold a meeting called Culture Conversation. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we needed to change this meeting's structure, so we moved it virtual. At first, we thought it would lose quality, but we were wrong. Culture Conversation has now reached another level. Now, it is possible to transmit this conversation from anywhere in the company! Participants can engage by sending comments in the chat, giving suggestions, and engaging in polls. We noticed that these virtual meetings are being more interactive than face-to-face meetings. It is virtually possible to interact with the audience and comment on the team member's participation, making the session more valuable. This exchange of experiences is terrific, being the true mean of what Culture Conversation is.
Recognition is critical to people engagement, and we place great importance on recognizing our team. At AM/NS Calvert, we have an online tool so that all team members can recognize coworkers and leadership. The tool is called Thanks a TON. Check out the numbers for 2020!
