The National EMS Memorial Service’s annual Moving Honors procession began today at the SHIELD Training Center in Redding, CA, embarking on its 9,000-mile journey and paying homage to 37 EMS heroes who lost their lives while serving others. The journey will culminate in Arlington, VA with the National EMS Memorial Service and Weekend of Honor, where the fallen will be solemnly remembered. The GMR family is proud to honor the fallen through this year’s Moving Honors procession. The REACH Air Medical Services team members hosted the kick-off procession event this morning. Safe travels to the Moving Honors team as they begin their journey, spanning 32 stops in 24 states. “It is an honor for REACH to host the kickoff of the Moving Honors procession, a powerful tribute to EMS professionals whose service and sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Sean Russell, Pacific Region president for Global Medical Response (GMR), REACH’s parent company.
Andrew Shelton has been a first responder for 38 years. One of his earliest calls sticks with him the most: At 16 years old, Andrew completed a ride-along with his local rescue squad. That morning, they delivered a baby in the field. Hours later, they responded to a fatal car accident. The stark contrast left a lasting impression, and that was when he knew EMS was the industry for him. Today, he values the opportunity to mentor his fellow AMR team members, teaching safety and technical skills as well as guiding them through real-world challenges. #EMSWeek2026 #OneGMR
