"The public charter school alumni who proudly shook my hand at commencement last May in front of beaming families and educators made F&M a richer and finer institution, truer to our mission — and they are going to make their mark on the world." Franklin & Marshall College President Dan Porterfield shares reflections about students who came to his college from charters.
Amazing news! On this year’s state test, Zada made the most progress of any Achievement First Connecticut student. We sat down with Zada, now a fifth-grader at AF Hartford Academy Middle, and her mother Symanther, to learn more about her and her success.
Joey is a seventh-grader at AF Summit Middle School. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we sat down with him and his mom, Sunshine, to talk about the importance of culture. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQY08—30+ days ago

AF Bushwick Middle's 8th graders scored in the top .1% of all middle schools in New York on this spring's state test. This is an AMAZING achievement, and there's more to it than just numbers. We write today outraged – and committed to action. The Administration’s decision to rescind Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in six months will remove protection from more than 800,000 people who came to our country as children and are now studying, working, and contributing to our communities. We have students, alumni, staff members, and neighbors who are directly threatened by this. The time to act is now.
The best hope for long-term protection for Dreamers is The DREAM Act of 2017, a bill that provides legal status and a path to citizenship for undocumented young people who entered the U.S. as minors. We support our students, families and communities, and we firmly support this DREAM Act. With this link (http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQ04y), you can ask your members of Congress to support this important piece of legislation to help protect young immigrants. We hope you will join us in signing on. #DefendDACA #SupportDreamers
We are so proud of our scholars' hard work on the state tests! Their results will be the launch pad for this year’s victories as our students and our network continue to learn, grow, and move forward. Check out a few highlights on the AF Blog. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQ0Cb—30+ days ago
