BOSTON, MA. – October 22, 2019 – Alfresco Software, a commercial, open source software company, today unveiled its new headquarters in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The new headquarters is in response to the company strengthening its position as a market leader and will accommodate a growing team and support its expanding base of clients and partners in the United States. The move will also cement Alfresco’s presence in the thriving Boston technology community and enable the company to reach a diverse talent pool.
Alfresco CEO Bernadette Nixon noted: “It is an exciting time at Alfresco as we experience exceptional growth while expanding our footprint in the U.S. as well as globally. In the last 12 months, we grew with more than 125 new employees, including a new executive leadership team, many of whom are now based out of Boston. Alfresco Appoints Ken Tacelli as Chief Revenue Officer to Drive Next Phase of Growth
As Chief Revenue Officer, Tacelli is responsible for driving revenue across all regions where Alfresco operates. He has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, with a proven track record of growing businesses, driving sustainable growth, developing sales teams, and executing global go-to-market strategies.
Most recently, Tacelli served as Chief Operating Officer at Datawatch Corporation where he steered the company through a successful acquisition. Prior to Datawatch, he served in senior sales executive roles at Skillsoft, OpenText, and CA Technologies.
Alfresco Appoints New Chief Financial Officer, Steve Buonaiuto
Buonaiuto will help drive the company’s growth and support all strategic and operational initiatives across the global business. With more than 30 years of executive management experience, Steve will lead corporate financial strategy, accounting and IT at Alfresco.
Buonaiuto was most recently CFO of Digital Guardian, a late-stage venture company, where he brought rigor and process to the company’s financial systems. Before Digital Guardian, Buonaiuto served as CFO and Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Sparta Systems, where he managed the company through a successful exit.
Tony Grout has joined Alfresco as Chief Product Officer
Grout will bring more than 25 years’ experience to bear in his new role managing all product design and engineering operations. Tony will be instrumental to Alfresco in delivering on our innovation agenda to fuel our continued aggressive growth.
Most recently Grout served as enterprise and DevOps transformation director at Atlassian and as Chief Product Owner, DevOps Pipelines, for Lloyds Banking Group. Before that, he led agile transformation initiatives for Skype, Microsoft and IBM. All of which have led to a deep working knowledge of product management, engineering, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD in the context of SaaS, PaaS and on premises software.
Alfresco Hires Chief People Officer
Brigid MacDonald has more than two decades’ experience in human capital in the technology and healthcare sectors and is passionate about combining culture, innovation, leadership and inclusiveness to create workplaces that people truly love, and employee experiences that are truly remarkable. Ms. MacDonald will be responsible for overseeing global human resources at Alfresco, including recruitment, employee development, people operations and employee experience.
She joins Alfresco from Datawatch Corporation, where she served as Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to that, she led the human resources function at Empirix Inc., the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and the Picker Institute.

Jennifer Smith, an international marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience in global technology companies, leads all aspects of marketing and cultural initiatives at Alfresco that benefit both internal and external communities. She is passionate about discovering the possibilities technology can offer, and about building communities of like-minded people who can share stories, be inspired and learn from each other.
Prior to joining Alfresco, Smith was CMO of Software AG, an enterprise software company with more than 10,000 customers in over 70 countries. Prior to that she served as the CMO of Globoforce, and as Senior Vice President and CMO of Avid Technology and Progress Software. She also held senior marketing roles at Information Builders, PeopleSoft and Microsoft.
