With much excitement, we launched our new employee volunteer program Atlantic Gives Back. Our kick-off event occurred on Saturday, September 28th in coordination with the Flint River Conservation Association, organized by Susan Weber. Numerous Atlantic employees, with family and friends, joined other volunteers to spend the day on Alabama’s Flint River with the mission to clean more than a four-mile stretch. We found debris, trash, and even various car parts! We would like to send a huge thanks to TVA and Redstone Arsenal for the canoes and lunch! Most of all, thanks to our Atlantic family and friends for volunteering and giving back to our community and the environment - Way to go!
From the southeastern United States tornado outbreak of 2011 to the surprise tornado in Wetumpka, Alabama this year, Atlantic has been providing local, state, and federal agencies with vital data within hours and days of impact. On January 19th, 2019 the cities of Wetumpka and Eclectic in Elmore County, Alabama, experienced the wrath of an EF-2 tornado with little to no warning. Atlantic was quickly tasked with providing digital orthophotography (0.5 ft. GSD pixel resolution) of the 18 linear miles throughout central Elmore County, following the tornado path, as well as the estimated damage swath supplied by the National Weather Service (NWS). From flight to final deliverables, we accomplished this task in one week and in turn provided government officials the crucial data needed for recovery efforts. “Working with Atlantic has been absolutely wonderful. They actually do what they say they’re going to do and they have absolutely exceeded expectations on this [project]. They were able to knock this out and it’s been a great benefit to the county.” - Thomas (Lee) Macon IV ACTA - Rev
