We recently wrapped up our annual United Way Campaign! Associates donated money and bid on auction items to raise funds for the United Way in their community. At BISSELL, social responsibility is important to us. We are proud to support the communities where we live and work. This year, 98% of Associates participated and we achieved 113% of our goal amount! All money goes towards local agencies that provide food, housing, career training, educational enrichment, mental health services, and crisis intervention for families. These programs meet short-term needs and empower our neighbors to achieve long-term stability.
As Global Diversity Awareness month comes to a close, we reflect on our recent efforts around diversity, inclusion, and equity at BISSELL. In October, we hosted 2 virtual lunch 'n learns with the Heart of West Michigan United Way. One event shared an exciting program focused on Diversity and Inclusion developments at BISSELL and within the community. The other furthered our learning about ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) households. We are reminded about the importance of inclusion and support in the workplace because we don’t know what others are facing. While the month dedicated to awareness is ending, our Global D&I efforts at BISSELL are ongoing. We continuously strive to have a supportive, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
This past weekend BISSELL turned 144! Over the years we have grown in size, continued to develop new and innovative products, and expanded globally! Yet, we are still the family-owned company that is passionate about cleaning, pets, and serving our community.
The BISSELL ForEverGreen Team recently hosted a sustainability-focused lunch and learn where Associates across North America heard from former BISSELL Vice President of Engineering. He spoke about his home and how he and his wife have evolved it to where it features a zero-carbon footprint. In addition to informing Associates about steps they can take to be more environmentally-friendly in their personal lives, BISSELL continues to drive sustainability efforts throughout the entire organization. Happy National Dog Day from everyone here at BISSELL! Our pet focus makes this day extra special, but the appreciation never stops! We continue to look for ways to share our love for dogs at home, in the workplace, and in the community.
