Cracking Insights: Is Avian Flu sending egg prices up again? 📈 There have been mounting concerns that outbreaks of Avian Flu are going to reach the levels of late 2022/early 2023 when shoppers saw egg prices soar. Engage3 has conducted a thorough analysis of egg pricing trends in the US and Canada over the past year to gauge whether we are seeing an impact of the latest outbreaks. We can reveal that shoppers are starting to see an impact of Avian Flu as the average price of a dozen large Conventional eggs is up 8.8% since the start of November 2023. We have also found: 🔎 Engage3’s Findings - Conventional egg prices have fallen 40.3% since their peak in January 2023: The average price of a dozen Conventional eggs have fallen to $3.13 from a peak of $5.24 in mid-January 2023. - Including all egg types, Everyday prices are down 7.4% since December 2022: This is inclusive of Conventional, Cage-Free, Free-Range, Pasture-Raised and Organic eggs. - Everyday Organic egg prices have fallen 3.8%: Due to the smaller scale, Organic and Free-Range eggs have been far less affected by Avian Flu. - Canadian egg prices have slowly risen by 2.8%: Canada’s quota-based supply system means its egg pricing is more resilient to Avian Flu and less volatile for shoppers. Home Depot, like many other retailers, has warned that shoppers being more cautious with discretionary spending has hit sales. However, considering Adobe Analytics' revelation of a 7.8% increase in ecommerce sales this year, Home Depot had a significant opportunity to seize it's share of this prize. Here's a breakdown of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals aimed at tapping into this ecommerce growth: 🔎 Engage3’s findings - 4.9% Fewer Deals on Cyber Monday: Home Depot listed only marginally fewer deals on Cyber Monday than Black Friday, far lower than Amazon. - Home Depot brands dominated deals: Home Depot's Home Decorators Collection claimed a substantial 50.2% share of 'Bath' deals and emerged as the frontrunner in the Furniture category. - Pricing was lower on Cyber Monday: Among products featuring deals on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, 3.8% displayed a different price on Cyber Monday, with the majority having a lower price.
