We are so excited about the Children's Center for Integrated Services and what this means for the children and families we serve at GHS. This new building will house all of our children's services under one roof.
Construction of the Genesee Health System’s Center for Children’s Integrated Services building has been underway since July 2021, and is expected to be completed in summer of 2022. The 60,000-square-foot building located on South Saginaw Street will offer pediatric, children’s mental health, and legal aid, all under one roof.
Genesee Community Health Center has distributed over 2,000 vaccines to date. This is important because if people don’t get a vaccine while we are out, they can and do follow up with the health center directly as that is what we invite them to do.
Genesee Health System and the Grand Blanc Township Police Department are pleased to announce a new partnership to provide mental health support to the Genesee County community. Officers will carry iPads that give direct, virtual access to live mental health professionals via GHS’s Behavioral Health Urgent Care department when additional support is needed in the community. Training and iPads have been provided by a COVID emergency response grant through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and SAMHSA. This access to care is one of many ways GHS is recognizing the mental health needs in Genesee County and working to close the funding gap to meet those needs. Today, as we celebrate Juneteenth, we should recognize both the progress made and the immense work still to be done to achieve equality and justice for all. To all those observing #Juneteenth, we wish you a day of joy and purpose. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. This was two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation — which had become official January 1, 1863! Getting involved and celebrating Juneteenth creates new bonds of friendship and understanding among us. Read more about Juneteenth and how it's celebrated today at the link below.
