Last week, we celebrated World Environment Day, we said cheers to not just building homes, but to creating sustainable developments and communities where nature can thrive! From green spaces to lower carbon materials, we champion a healthier living while supporting our environment! 🐦🌳 Some of the initiatives we are proud to acknowledge are: 🐞 Collaborating with Buglife, the sole organisation in Europe dedicated to invertebrate conservation 🌻 Providing a guide on 'Attracting wildlife to your garden' for our customers, encouraging wildlife-friendly practices 🦔 Implementing Hedgehog Highways in new developments and protecting hedgehogs during works 🦇 Installing bird and bat boxes in approximately 15% of our homes 🦎 Creating additional habitats like SuDs or ponds for reptiles and amphibians 🐝 Including wildflower seed packs and bug hotels in welcome packs for new homeowners 🏳 Supporting the SDG Flag Campaign to promote Sustainable Development Goals awareness We believe that each small action matters, and collectively, we can make a significant impact. We were delighted to host another event this week to honour our exceptional apprentices' accomplishments and dedication. We had the pleasure of welcoming back motivational speaker, Jason Anker MBE, and distributed recognition awards to a number of our apprentices. Yesterday, we hosted an event to recognise our exceptional apprentices' outstanding achievements and hard work! During the event, we had the privilege of welcoming an inspirational speaker, Jason Anker MBE, who faced life-altering injuries after a decision he made on a construction site at the age of 24. Jason shared the profound impact that choice had on his life, family, friends, and his mental well-being with our cohort of apprentices. Jason, as an advocate for the 'No Falls Charity,' passionately narrated his experience of a fall from a height incident in 1993 that left him wheelchair-bound. He expressed: “Through my story, I aim to inspire ‘Early Talent’ coming into the industry to make the right choices around Wellbeing and Health & Safety in construction. I would also like to thank Sharon Jarvis for inviting me along to the Gleeson Apprentice Awards Ceremony to share my story and inspire the future generation”. This week coincides with No Falls Week and Mental Health Week, providing the perfect opportunity for Jason to share his story of resilience and advocacy. #NoFallsWeek #MentalHealthWeek #Apprentices #GleesonHomes
