For Hari, a Technical Solutions Engineer on the Security team, his role is about more than just code – it’s about being a "detective, a problem-solver, and a communicator." His journey brought him to the vibrant tech hub of Google Bangalore. “It’s a dynamic environment where everyone's expertise is valued,” Hari explains. “We all work together to deliver the best possible experience for our users.” Hari's core role is to bridge the gap between the users and the product teams. He spends his days analyzing logs, debugging code, and reproducing complex technical issues to understand their root cause. Once a solution is found, he works with the product teams to get it implemented. “It's a role that's both challenging and immensely rewarding, knowing that my work directly helps our users succeed,” Hari shares. He credits his preparation for Google to a simple but crucial practice: "breaking down complex problems into smaller, manageable pieces." His secret to success at Google is a combination of curiosity, a growth mindset, empathy, and collaboration. "No one at Google works in a silo. We're all part of a larger ecosystem." Hari’s final piece of advice is a powerful reminder for anyone on their career path: "Never stop learning. Your journey is yours alone, so embrace every challenge and celebrate every success along the way." Ready to tackle complex problems and help users succeed? Last week, Google hosted our PhD Intern Summit at our Mountain View HQ. PhD interns from around the world were invited to join virtually or in-person, and the day consisted of countless learning and networking opportunities. “Research at Google is actively shaping the future across a variety of fields, and we wanted to give our PhD interns a chance to witness this firsthand,” explained Ryan, one of the event’s organizers. “This was a unique chance for PhD interns to connect and network with their fellow PhD interns, alongside key recruiters and industry leaders, fostering collaborations that could last a lifetime.” In addition to talks and chats with various Google executives, the event also included an intern poster session for interns to showcase their project work. For many attendees, seeing the impact of their work reaffirmed their decision to come to Google. “I chose Google because I wanted to work on something more impactful with more reach,” shared Harsh, a research intern on Google Search. “So far, it's exactly what I thought it would be. I’m working on tough problems in a very collaborative environment, and I can talk to anyone to get their perspective” Thank you to all of our research interns for your contributions to #LifeatGoogle!
