McLean, Va. – Intelsat, operator of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network and leading provider of inflight connectivity (IFC), has again been chosen by long-time partner, Alaska Airlines, to provide inflight connectivity on 105 of the company’s new fleet of Boeing 737MAX aircraft. Alaska Airlines’ new 737MAX deliveries will be fitted with Intelsat’s inflight connectivity and streaming entertainment system – which is already featured on over 150 aircraft in Alaska’s fleet. This agreement represents Alaska’s continued confidence in Intelsat’s 2Ku inflight connectivity systems for its mainline fleet and is the largest expansion of the IFC relationship between the two companies to date. Onboard, Alaska guests can expect an even better user experience with complete access to everything on the internet, including streaming sites. Effective April 4, Wajsgras succeeds Stephen Spengler, who announced his planned retirement in Oct. 2021. Wajsgras has two decades of experience at the senior executive management level, providing operational, strategic and financial leadership in both the commercial and defense industries. He most recently served as president of the global, $7.5-billion, advanced-technology Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) business at the former Raytheon Company, now part of Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX). Intelsat Brings More STEM to Students in Africa Intelsat, operator of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network is expanding its partnership with MaxIQ Space (formerly Xinabox) in delivering its Xinabox Space STEM (space, technology, engineering, and math) program to teenagers across the African continent. The intensive program culminates in students designing, building, and launching satellites into space. This unique opportunity is entirely virtual, with each student receiving a STEM kit and engaging in virtual workshops delivered by space education specialists. Intelsat (OTC: INTEQ), operator of the world’s largest and most advanced satellite fleet and connectivity infrastructure has entered into an agreement to acquire the commercial aviation business of Gogo (NASDAQ: GOGO), the largest global provider of in-flight broadband connectivity, for $400 million in cash. This propels Intelsat further into the growing commercial in-flight connectivity market, pairing Intelsat's high-capacity global satellite and ground network with Gogo’s base of over 3,000 commercial aircraft to redefine the connectivity experience. Gogo’s leading commercial aviation business provides Intelsat with key airline relationships and customer-facing capabilities, including a leading software platform, ISP and network management infrastructure.
