How can surgeons achieve triangulation inside the body during narrow and alternative access surgery? Da Vinci SP instruments are designed with wrists and elbows to provide greater range of motion than the human hand. Explore the system’s unique features. https://lnkd.in/eCT3eNZS
Our European users have reached a milestone: More than 1,500 da Vinci surgical systems have been installed and are in use across Europe. This is one of many milestones on a much longer path—a path we believe leads to a future of care that is less invasive, where diseases are identified early and treated efficiently. Thank you to the many surgeons and care teams across Europe who utilize our unified ecosystem of advanced systems, services, and learning offerings.
“Having the freedom to be frank about this part of who I am takes away some of the stress that comes with disability, particularly at work.” In the Diverse-Abilities Employee Resource Group, Emily Sands has found a space where she’s comfortable sharing her struggles with mental illness, and solidarity with a diverse and intersectional community of colleagues with disabilities and their allies. Those allies include Sam Balsubramani, who explains that part of her role is to fight stigma and stereotypes about the disabled community: “When someone feels like they can’t relate to your experience, they often feel uncomfortable speaking to it. But what matters is that we listen and support. As allies, we can help demystify disability and encourage those conversations.” As Intuitive celebrates Disability Employment Awareness Month, we invite you to read this conversation with Emily, Sam, and Manny Alfaro, who share about the work they’re doing to make an impact for their community at Intuitive and beyond it, and what being a part of the ERG means to them. “I can share my story honestly,” Manny says. “People here care about me to help me carry that, and I do the same for them. It’s given me a sense of belonging I didn’t even realize I was missing.” https://lnkd.in/eHbruwmH #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth #WeAreIntuitive
This LGBTQ+ History Month, our PRIDE Employee Resource Group is focusing on the critical issue of health equity—ensuring that healthcare is accessible, available, and affordable for all people. PRIDE was honored to host a panel discussion with healthcare providers led by our own Darla Hutton, VP Commercial Operations and Marketing, Asia. They discussed the disparity in care the LGBTQ+ community faces—and ways to fight it. The panelists shared the importance of representation in all medical fields, empathy and curiosity in patient care, and the need for educational and financial resources to close the equity gap. As Darla said during the panel, Intuitive also has a role to play. As a leader in medical technology, we aim to support LGBTQ+ providers—and to support hospitals as they educate their staff on treating every patient with respect and dignity. And of course, it starts at home, with conversations like this one that spark ideas and inspire change. What’s it like to take an idea from paper to prototype to testing, knowing that idea could help shape the future of minimally invasive care? We asked Intuitive hardware engineers what their work means to them—and their passion for solving complex problems is clear. Even though, as Mechanical Engineer Purva Joshi says, “The next big idea might not happen overnight,” engineers at Intuitive are spurred on by the challenge, confident in their own skills and in their team’s collaborative spirit. Watch this video to hear from the team on why Intuitive’s mission drives them to prove what’s possible every day.
