We are excited to announce the Pune office in India is officially an operational MSCI location. The brand-new office was established as a Center of Excellence for software engineering. So far, we have onboarded 40 employees and 35 employees will relocate from Mumbai to Pune once the pandemic restrictions are lifted by the local government. After recognizing the potential for MSCI in India we made the decision to open a second office location to support our continued growth as a firm. Pune is globally recognized for high-quality technology and software engineering talent and is a leading IT center in India with a large, growing talent pool. “It took a large number of dedicated folks from across MSCI to make this happen, during a global pandemic. With their efforts we will have close to 100 software engineers in Pune by the end of this year and even more next year. This site will be a great long-term asset for MSCI.” – Jigar Thakkar
A few weeks ago MSCI’s CEO and Chairman, Henry Fernandez, shared his commitment to take immediate action and broaden the firm’s work for more diversity, equality and inclusion at MSCI. So far, we have implemented blind resumes across all open roles, launched the Black Leadership Network (BLN) with the help of our passionate founding members, began Unconscious Bias training starting with all Managing Directors, CEO and President, and held our Q2 Executive Diversity Council session to hear from some of our BLN founders and discuss ideas about where we can go from here. We’ve also celebrated Pride month across the company and launched our Allies program. We are turning to action across the firm and are proud of where we are going.
MSCI was featured in a prominent video story by CNBC. The video, featuring Remy Briand, is aimed at helping people understand what ESG is, what it means for investors and beyond Wall Street, and what’s next for ESG as strongly tied to the pandemic, social justice protests and related corporate actions.
This week, Henry Fernandez participated at Bloomberg’s annual event, Bloomberg Invest Global, which convenes leaders from the global financial and investment industry to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the industry. In a virtual setting due to the pandemic, Bloomberg Invest spanned key markets and time zones to bring together the most dynamic, influential and innovative financial and economic thinkers today in conversations with top Bloomberg journalists and analysts. Henry was interviewed by Mallika Kapur, deputy editor at Bloomberg, about MSCI’s outlook for Hong Kong as an international financial center, partnership with HKEX, ESG investing, index review as well as diversity and inclusion.
Technology Graduate Program We are excited to welcome 17 new graduate hires into Technology for our Pune and Mumbai offices. These new hires will initially work remotely due to COVID-19 and will go through a newly developed virtual onboarding experience, which has already proven to be very successful. We have several initiatives planned for our hires to ensure their transition into the workplace is smooth, successful and enjoyable! The programme is structured around the well-known 70-20-10 model, which is a concept MSCI has embraced for developing talent across the organisation. The graduates will have access to a specifically curated learning journey to cover their first 6-months in the organisation, in addition to other internal resources and some live virtual classroom sessions delivered by our expert Learning & Development team. Each new joiner is also being aligned with a Buddy and a Mentor and will get exposure to some senior colleagues, in a unique Q&A speaker series, as MSCI recognises the importance of learning from others and the value of building an enriching network.
