A Janitor No More “Before beginning my journey at MyComputerCareer I was cleaning toilets. I really hated going to work every night. I wanted a career that was going to allow me to be home with my family more often, be financially stable, and enjoy doing everyday. One night I heard the MyComputerCareer commercial on Pandora and decided to look into it. I did research on the I.T. industry before enrolling at MyComputerCareer and there are endless opportunities in the industry. When I enrolled into MyCC I was nervous. I didn’t have any computer knowledge under my belt at all. I was afraid of failing. Then the first day of class I met my Instructor, Lou Everett. He was an amazing instructor. He always gave an inspirational pep talk at the beginning of each class. He’d get you motivated and your mind in the right place to keep pushing forward and not give up. Most importantly he cared about the success of each and everyone of his students.” Click here to read the rest of this story!

The Job Incubator! Jacob had just lost his job at an auto-parts store when he arrived at MyComputerCareer on a winter day so void of warmth that the ground crunched under his feet. The fact that the earth had turned her face from the sun was also proven by all the problems in the world on that day. Every soul, it seems, awoke with car problems, house problems, heat problems, and health problems – problems. Jacob had just gotten married and, until recently, didn’t fear failure or his problems – but now, now someone was watching. I watched too. Meet Scheena Juneau. A MyComputerCareer Graduate from our Houston Campus. This is her story. I had been laid off from work for 3-4 months in the construction industry and I had been hearing the radio commercials for years and thought, “maybe someday”. The only thing that was holding me back, was the fact that I didn’t feel as computer savvy as the folks you see on TV, or even some of my friends who knew how to program. I could do quick fixes and such but nothing major. I never really knew where to go to get official training on how to work on computers. Click here to read more about Scheena's story!

The Importance of Celebration Life can be a bumpy ride. There are ups and down. Seasons come and go, but we can learn from the challenges, as well as how we deal with each one of them. On this journey of transition, to building a new life, there are a great deal of changes taking place not only around you, but within yourselves. Accomplishing goals, checking tasks off the list, and developing a work ethic of a leader – these qualities are all being established in you as you push forward. Although, you are training to become more ambitious and through that, achieve larger life goals, here is an important reminder…NEVER forget to celebrate yourselves and honor each accomplishment, no matter how big or how small. It is very easy to get caught up in the doing, doing, doing and it feeling like it will never be enough. Anything that you do, to work towards bettering and strengthening yourself, is worth the celebration. Your life, accomplishments and passion are worth celebrating! Let this post encourage you to continue to take time out to celebrate your accomplishments and hard work.
Recent High School Graduate is Already an I.T. Professional! On the MyComputerCareer Columbus Campus, there is an Instructor named Jason. Recently, Jason had a very special student enroll into the program. Although, all of our students are special, this one held a place in Jason’s heart, his very own daughter, Sydney. Sydney is a recent high school graduate and is only 18 years old. She knew that she wanted to get into I.T. and knew that she wanted to do it through obtaining I.T. certifications. However, like all Disney movies, every great success story always has its ups and downs. That has been no different for Sydney. When she started the program, Sydney hit the ground running. There are a lot of us out there that can relate. Something new, something exciting and something challenging! She stayed on top of her classroom hours and grades. About halfway through the program, as it came time to start working with Career Services and get her first I.T. position, Sydney became discouraged. Click here to read the rest of Sydney's story!

On Set with Military Makeover – Meet Rory Lee Behind every great TV show is an army of people; “the crew” as they call it in the TV production world. The crew consists of key people: you have your director, your producer, your camera guys, the lighting people, the production assistants and the person with truly the magic touch… the makeup artist. How else do you think the on-air talent stays looking in tip-top shape? Did you really think it was all just good genetics? Meet Rory Lee. The women behind the brush and a woman with her very own make-up line. Rory is the on-set makeup artist for Military Makeover. MyComputerCareer joined forces with Military Makeover on Lifetime to surprise a Gold Star Army Veteran’s family with a complete home transformation. What an incredible experience this was to truly give back to someone who has served our country by giving them a complete home makeover. Through this process, our team got to work side by side with the Military Makeover “crew”. Click here to read the rest of this great story about Military Makeover!
