June 22, 2023 Employee Spotlight - Karen Lowart Southern California Agency Marketing Manager Karen has been with Oregon Mutual since 2006. When asked what it is about Oregon Mutual has been 7 years. The reason why I've been with Oregon Mutual this long is really because of the people who work at OM. When I began my employment at OM in 2006, I instantly care about one another and that's not something that I've ever taken for granted. And we treat our agent the same. This is what makes me proud to work for Oregon Mutual." Karen & her husband love the outdoors and enjoy hiking and taking the many fitness classes available to them at PGA West, a club that they belong to in the desert. They also spend a lot of time with their kids and grandkids and thoroughly enjoy being with them. They recently attended a big fish competition and their grandson, Gavin, caught the biggest fish, with a little bit of help from his grandpa, Brett, who is affectionately known as captain turtle!
April 25, 2023 Employee Spotlight - Natalie Pellow Senior Claims Adjuster II Natalie has been with Oregon Mutual since 2013. When asked what it is about Oregon Mutual that makes her proud to be an employee she said, "Oregon Mutual has a strong focus on providing exceptional service and value to its customers, as an employee I take pride in being part of a company that prioritizes customer satisfaction and has a positive impact on people's lives." Natalie has two beautiful children, Quinn (3 years old) and James (1 year old). Quinn is their little diva and currently obsessed with mermaids, unicorns, and Spiderman. James is a mountain goat and climbs everything he can. They live in a tiny house in Huntington Beach where her and her husband share their recently converted garage, now "home office" since they are a work from home family. On weekends, they can be found standing in lines at Disneyland or trying to keep James from eating sand at the beach. Per Natalie's manager, John Edwards: "Natalie is a consummate professional. She is compassionate toward our customers and at the same time is exact in her analysis of covered losses. She is wealth of knowledge and freely shares her knowledge and resources with the team."
January 19, 2023 Employee Spotlight - Steve Flabel Senior Claims Adjuster II Steve Flabel is one of our Senior Claims Adjusters and was nominated by management for our employee spotlight. In February, Steve will have been with Oregon Mutual for 8 years. When asked what it is about Oregon Mutual that makes him proud to be an employee he said, "The solid quality reputation that OM has earned along with the great people that I work with makes me proud to be employed here. I love helping our customers overcome the adversity they are facing, and working with them to get their lives back to normal in a timely manner." Steve and his wife, Jill, have three boys that are currently going to college; their oldest working as a Men's Basketball Grad Assistant Coach in Hawaii for Hawaii Pacific University. Outside of work, they love to camp, garden, travel, golf, watch SF Giants baseball and spend time with family. Steve has a hobby of making license plate signs. We appreciate all of Steve's hard work, his positivity, his accuracy in handling claims and overall being a great representation of Oregon Mutual. December 7, 2022 Employee Spotlight - Petra Rasmussen Technical Specialist Petra Rasmussen was nominated by her manager who had the following to say bout her. "Over the past two and a half years Petra has proven over and over to be a huge asset to Oregon Mutual. In the initial stages of the COVID office closure, Petra agreed to continue coming into the office so that she could work with several Interns who were working various underwriting profitability projects. She proved to be a great resource for them and this allowed us to continue working on several critical projects. At the same time, she managed her own projects and often took it upon herself to create reporting and follow up processes to track the work. Petra was quick to take ownership of tracking and progress and provided monthly updates." Getting to know Petra: She joined Oregon Mutual 26 years ago. When asked what makes her proud to be an Oregon Mutual Employee, she said: "Co-workers are very supportive and we make a great team. Management has an open-door policy and are always approachable." She wen on to say she has enjoyed the opportunity to work on a variety of project both within her team as well as with other partners within the company. She really enjoyed working with and managing several interns on multiple underwriting projects. Outside of work Petra volunteers for "Paws of Love Therapy Dogs" and "Community Home Builders". She loves the outdoors and enjoys riding her bicycle to work.
July 6, 2022 Employee Spotlight - Marshall Dittel-Payne Customer Service Representative If you are an agent who has ever experienced system issues, you've likely had the privilege to work with Marshall Dittel-Payne. Marshall is one of our talented Customer Service Representatives who has a specialty in triaging system related problems. He was nominated by his peers to be our next spotlight, and that is due to his capability and compassion in helping our agency force. Marshall has been an Oregon Mutual employee for a year and a half and quickly grew into his responsibilities relating to agency software through his dedication and eagerness to help. he works closely with many departments in our organization and is often called on to be the subject matter expert relating to system issues. In his spare time, Marshall enjoys playing soccer, going on road trips with his dog Margo, eating great food.
April 6, 2022 Employee Spotlight - Lorin Jones Customer Support Lead - Mail Services Lorin was nominated by many of his peers to be our first employee spotlight, and it's no secret as to why. Lorin Jones is an Oregon Mutual employee who has worked with the company for 21 years. He is a multi-generation employee, his mother worked here in the 1940's and his great, great, great grandfather served on the early board of directors. Lorin is in charge of our daily operations related to distribution and mail services. Recently, Lorin was in charge of a large scale project that brought automation to our core delivery services. Through this initiative he made Oregon Mutual the first "Full-Service Mailer" with the U.S. Post Office in our county. Outside of work, Lorin loves spending time with his family. He also enjoys landscaping, watching his daughters sporting events, singing karaoke and watching movies with families and friends. He is a Penn State football and Chicago Cubs fanatic!
May 16, 2022 Employee Spotlight - Kim Marshall Director of Financial Services As we say goodbye to tax season, this is the perfect time to get to know our financial guru, Kim Marshall. Kim has been an Oregon Mutual Employee for 26 years. She started as an accountant, and over the years held titles including Sr. Accountant, Sr. Corporate Accountant, and moved into her current role in 2017. When asked what makes her proud to be an Oregon Mutual employee, she had the following to say: "Having been raised in McMinnville, I have always been proud to work for company that has provided a family atmosphere while supporting the local community. I have always felt like part of a team who has been given many opportunities over the years. I'm grateful for everyone who I have worked with, and who have made Oregon Mutual the success it is today." Outside of work, Kim is the proud mother to Two Arizona State Sundevils. She enjoys attending sporting events and is a Winterhawks season ticketholder. She has amazingly participated on the Oregon Mutual Portland to Coast walking relay for the last 22 years and enjoyed being able to get to know coworkers on a personal level.
Mindy Menke was celebrated in January 2023 by the Willamette Valley Cancer Foundation! Mindy has been an integral part of Oregon Mutual's participation in supporting families with a loved one with cancer during the holidays. The Foundation President and Foundation board members were present to say a few words about Mindy's dedication to the Foundation and families in need.
