Work is personal. Daniel H. joined #TeamOutsetMedical after more than 15 years of both selling and leading sales teams in the surgical device space. But it was his mother Linda’s five-year battle with cancer, including hemodialysis in the hospital for kidney failure before her passing, that changed his outlook on healthcare and ultimately the trajectory of his career. Now, more than a year and a half after joining Outset, Dan is grateful to be part of a team focused on changing healthcare for the better. “I’ve had a lot of success here, and I think it’s because of the story of what we’re trying to do. It resonates so much on a daily basis. And I do it every day with my mom in mind,” he says.

The future of healthcare is here - and it's at home. As our Chief Medical Officer Michael Aragon, MD asks in his latest article for Medical News, "If we bank, shop, work, play and socialize from home, why can’t we also receive our healthcare where we live?" To understand what makes this trend toward home healthcare possible, look no further than the advances in home dialysis: "Although the blood-cleansing process has technically been possible at home for years, it has been exceedingly expensive and difficult to implement. Dialysis technology has rapidly evolved in the past few years so that it is simpler than ever and a good fit for most patients to treat at home." Dr. Aragon sums up the implications well: "Home hemodialysis is the future of kidney care." You can read his full article in Medical News here: http://www.medicalnews.md/01/home-is-where-health-is/

Our very own Stacey Porter, Chief People Officer, and storied talent advocate engaged in a captivating discussion about the Future of Work with a few of the Bay Area’s culture builders, Heather McLinden from Honeybook and Michelle Sitzman from Talend, at HanaHaus in Palo Alto last week. This trio brought concrete insights forward about how work is rapidly changing and the skills employers will pay top dollar for in the future. Three key takeaways were a) jobs and descriptions of jobs will give way to the more honest and real opportunity descriptions as tenures get shorter, b) the skills of adaptability, initiation, computational intelligence, and storytelling with data will be fetch top dollar in the marketplace, and c) companies who want a durable lifespan need to actively build manager mindsets and skillsets. Special thanks to our fearless moderator, Shawn Flynn of Silicon Valley Podcast, and to the HanaHaus for hosting. #futureofwork #betterbeginsnow
At Outset Medical, curiosity, ingenuity and conviction power #TabloDialysis technology, transforming the lives of dialysis patients and providers. #TeamOutsetMedical stands for a lot of things – and at the top of the list is #Pride. Across the company, we value empathy, community, diversity, and progress, so you can bet that #PrideMonth was chock-full of moments that brought our people together and shared the best of how we wish to lead. At Outset Medical Mexico, a Pride conference, educational session, and lots of decorations set the tone for how we accept and understand our LGBTQIA colleagues. At Outset Medical Columbus, Gerardo Medrano organized and led the team’s participation in the Columbus Pride Parade. And at our HQ in San Jose, we hosted an education session with the CEO of Silicon Valley Pride, ahead of Silicon Valley Pride Festival, which takes place in August. The inclusivity of our culture, and our commitment to honoring the full identities of each of our team members makes us especially proud to work at Outset, and grateful for these community events that bring us together, remind us of what’s important, and connect us to each other. #BetterBeginsNow
