For more than 40 years, Robert L. “Bob” Walker has devoted his career in hospital leadership to making the name Scottish Rite for Children synonymous with excellence. Named President/CEO in 2012, Mr. Walker is responsible for the overall strategic and operational direction of the organization and maintaining our standing as one of the top-ranked pediatric orthopedic centers in the world. He works closely with the board of trustees, medical staff and executive leadership to ensure our pediatric patients receive the highest degree of medical care. “We are blessed to treat children, and that’s a very special mission,” Mr. Walker says. “Every staff member and volunteer is dedicated to making sure our patients get the best possible care for the conditions we treat. We want each patient and their family to have the best experience, and we focus on that daily. Our team recently hosted the 9th annual International Perthes Study Group (IPSG) meeting — but this year it was virtual! During a morning and evening session, members from all areas of the globe gathered virtually to present their latest Perthes research and give updates on various projects. Established in 2012, IPSG includes over 40 pediatric orthopedic surgeons and researchers from 10 different countries who are dedicated to improving the care of patients with Perthes disease — a childhood hip disorder that affects the ball portion of the hip joint. As a multicenter research project, Scottish Rite is proud to serve as the lead center.
