Our Dallas campus is home to an innovative Fabrication Lab that is part of the state-of-the-art Orthopedic Biomechanics suite, a space that allows our team of expert bioengineers, physicians and researchers to design and engineer new tools and devices that advance health care and improve patient outcomes. The lab is equipped with a wide range of tools and specialized equipment that help bring basic science research into a clinical setting, allowing our experts to set the standard for modern orthopedic care. Our experience in treating rare and complex spine, hip and extremity disorders positions our team to solve the most challenging orthopedic problems. Scottish Rite for Children holds more than 50 patents, with many of our scoliosis and limb difference devices beginning in the Fabrication Lab. Projects include developing the next generation of surgical implants and instruments, therapeutic devices, and occupational and rehabilitative aids.
Looking to specialize in pediatric sports medicine? The Scottish Rite for Children and UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) Sports Medicine Fellowship is a new 12-month ACGME accredited fellowship program with an emphasis on pediatric sports medicine. The one-year fellowship program is available to a postgraduate surgeon who has completed an orthopedic residency, but it may also be ideal for a surgeon who has just completed a fellowship who would like more exposure to pediatric sports medicine conditions and treatment. Currently, there is one position available for the 2023 cycle, and we are also accepting applications for the 2024 cycle. This fellowship is perfect for a PGY4 who is interested in sports medicine and may have been overlooked or gone unmatched. A PGY5 who is interested in a second fellowship is also an ideal candidate.

What started in 1995 as a small camp for Scottish Rite patients with hand differences is now a worldwide movement. That movement is being led by occupational therapist and certified hand therapist Amy Lake. Amy recently attended the 2023 World Symposium on Congenital Malformations of the Hand and Upper Limb where she shared her research on the impact therapeutic camps have on children with hand differences. Her published study and passion for treating the whole child is inspiring hospitals all over the world to start their own hand camps. We are so proud to have Amy as part of our team sharing the incredible things happening at Scottish Rite. To learn more, visit our website. http://spr.ly/6185PDBZv
Annabella receives care for hip dysplasia from one of our hip experts Dr. Morris and his team. As she undergoes treatment with a series of spica casts, our Child Life team goes the extra mile by matching her cast to her teddy bear's cast. Annabella affectionately named her teddy bear "Dr. Morris" after her favorite doctor. Our patients always leave a sweet impression on all of us.
