In preparation for World Oceans Day celebrations on June 8th, 60 Selfridges team members came together with our Project Ocean partners Zoological Society London, and Thames21 as part of their Volunteering Day to complete a beach clean and conduct some "citizen science." We successfully cleared 145 bin bags of rubbish, mostly wet wipes (record set at 120 wet wipes found in a single square metre of beach). Moral(s) of the story: 1. Please do not flush wet wipes and cotton buds down the loo! 2. Go #OneLess - there are a plethora of water refill points in a number of locations across the UK (including outside our new entrance on London, Duke Street) we can all use a little less single-use plastic.
