On Saturday evening, October 19, Socionext America participated in the annual “Light the Night” event to gather as a community to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by blood cancers. Socionext’s very own Raghu Rao, Chair of the Silicon Valley Corporate Walk Chair for Light The Night, passionately spoke about his own journey with a family member and the urgent need as a community to support individuals and families suffering from leukemia and lymphoma. He introduced families who have been deeply affected by these devastating diseases, sharing their emotional journeys and the challenges they face daily. Raghu emphasized that donations to this cause are crucial, as they fund groundbreaking research and provide essential support to patients and their families. Every contribution brings us one step closer to a future where no one has to suffer from these blood cancers. Also, thanks to everyone who donated generously to this cause and to the SNA management for matching the donation. The funds raised will support lifesaving research, advocacy, and help for blood cancer patients and their families. As of this morning, HR has announced that the total fund raised from Socionext is $3,100! Way to go, SNA!!! Also, it’s not too late to make your donation, click here to make a difference today! October 23, 2023 – Socionext today announced the development of custom SoCs for advanced ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and AD (Autonomous Driving) using “N3A”, TSMC's latest 3nm automotive process technology, with target production set in 2026. The 3nm technology from TSMC enables high-volume production with significant improvements in power, performance, and area (PPA) compared to previous technology nodes. TSMC’s N3E process offers: • 18% speed improvement at the same power, or 32% power reduction • Up to 60% increase in logic density compared to N5
October 18, 2023 – Socionext today announced a collaboration with Arm and TSMC for the development of an innovative, power-optimized 32-core CPU chiplet in TSMC's 2nm silicon technology, delivering scalable performance for hyperscale data center server, 5/6G infrastructure, DPU, and edge-of-network markets. The new CPU and customized application-specific chiplets can support multiple target applications and pave the way for a cost-effective package-level upgrade path. Engineering samples of the new chiplets are targeted in 1H2025. ARM has also issued an Arm Total Design ecosystem blog featuring their new Neoverse Compute Subsystems (CSS), with Socionext listed as one of their valued ecosystem partners.
Oct 17, 2023 – Smart Buildings Technology, an online publication dedicated to enhancing collaboration across the professional technology ecosystem serving the smart buildings market, published an article written by Neil Bullock from the SNA Marketing Team titled "RF sensors address new challenges in commercial office management". This article discusses the modern hybrid work environment and how 60 GHz sensors can be used to manage building infrastructure and monitor employees' health and safety. Additionally, 60 GHz RF sensors can provide a rich set of information to satisfy the observeability requirements of intelligent buildings while preserving the anonymity of the occupants.
Aug 29, 2023 – Today, Fierce Electronics published an article titled “Preventing infant deaths in hot cars with state-of-the-art sensor tech” by Neil Bullock from SNA’s Marketing Team. Thanks to Neil for showcasing Socionext’s sensing technology for saving the lives of children left in hot cars. Due to the increasing number of deaths of infants left in hot cars, the article revealed the value of RF sensing technology in reducing infant mortality by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). On May 18, 2023, the FCC issued new regulations establishing the use of sensing technology in the 60 GHz band. Cars can now freely use the most appropriate technology for in-cabin sensing, as embodied in Socionext’s SC1260AR3 RF CMOS-based ultra-low-power automotive-grade 60GHz sensors with an embedded sensing engine. https://www.fierceelectronics.com/sensors/preventing-infant-deaths-hot-cars-state-art-sensor-tech
