This Black History Month we celebrated the rich heritage of African Americans in the arts. To kick-off the month we hosted a pop-up shop event with Lymaira, a self-taught artist crafting unique earring designs and paintings since 2018 and Luv2Bead who specializes in crafting distinctive jewelry. To close out the month in celebration, we partnered with Quianah Upton, founder and owner of Nourish Botanica for an onsite workshop. Quianah established Nourish Botanica in 2014, to promote healing through art and provide a platform for discussions on food equity and economic justice in the Atlanta area and beyond.
At Spanx, we're passionate about empowering our employees to embrace whole-person wellness, and as we gear up for the busy year-end season, we were thrilled to host the first annual Spanx Farmer's Market! Our goal was to embody the vibrant atmosphere of local farmers and artisans right here in our Atlanta office, offering their produce and products to our employees. We also provided delightful fall treats and warming beverages to make this experience even more enjoyable. The Spanx Farmer's Market provided an opportunity for our employees to explore local businesses and empower their healthy food choices.
We couldn't be prouder of the success of the Mercado at Spanx event, and we enjoyed celebrating the rich culture of Latinx & Hispanic Heritage Month. The Mercado at Spanx event provided us with a unique opportunity to come together as a community, hear from local Latina business owners, and support beautiful artistry. The moderated panel discussion featuring local business owners was not just enlightening but also a testament to our dedication to learning from one another and fostering meaningful connections. As a company that values cultural richness, we were thrilled to be part of an event that celebrated Latinx & Hispanic traditions and cuisine. The Mercado echoed the experience of social gathering places found in Latinx communities and provided a platform for a diverse group of local artists and vendors to showcase their incredible talents and products. We're grateful to have been part of an event that not only brought our team together but also highlighted the incredible talent within our local community. The Mercado at Spanx was a special experience for employees, embodying our values of community, diversity, and local support. We look forward to more opportunities to foster connections and celebrate cultures in the future. Thank you to all our vendors and employees involved who made this event possible and memorable!
This year’s Whole Person Wellness Week theme, “Define Your Wellness” focused on empowering our employees with enriching conversations and resources that champion wellness and guide them in achieving a blend of self-care and preventive health practices. We kicked off the week with the Cocktails & Conversations panel that brought enlightening discussions led by health specialists, Clara Jones MSN, APRN, FNP-C and Deidre Wright, LMFT. This panel helped to shed light on the significance of prioritizing self-care and self-maintenance. Next, our Wellness Showcase proudly welcomed a diverse array of local vendors, who generously shared resources and actionable tips for enhancing our daily lives. Wrapping up the week on a motivating note, our collaboration with our Buckhead Village neighbors, Barry’s Bootcamp, provided an energizing workout class at our headquarters. At Spanx, Whole Person Wellness aims to provide employees with the tools to take their well-being to the next level.
We had such a lovely time celebrating Pride at Spanx this month. Our Lavender Hour themed event included letter writing to SAGE, viewing the State of Pride Documentary, and enjoying lavender flavored cocktails with each other. After visiting our lavender themed charcuterie board, employees enjoyed the opportunity to write encouraging letters celebrating LGBTQ+ pioneers through Letters to SAGE.
“With our partnership with Blackstone that was completed in November of last year, one thing that was so important to me in making sure we were really ready to start scaling our growth, was building up the leadership team first. We’ve really doubled the size of our executive team, and it’s the perfect balance between tenured leaders like myself…and these amazing leaders we’ve brought in from industry who will be helping us scale our vision as we move forward,” said Jones.
