Fluidigm is proud to be part of the FLAMIN-GO Project consortium of academic and industry leaders in #rheumatology, #autoimmunedisease research, and #drugdiscovery and development, aiming to create an organ-on-a-chip solution toward personalized care and improved outcomes for #rheumatoidarthritis patients. To assist consortium researchers, Fluidigm is providing training, support, and equipment to perform #ImagingMassCytometry studies that can generate critical data about protein expression patterns among different cell types within the chip as well as how spatial relationships among different cell types impacts their activity and response to treatment.
Recent advances in #singlecell #biology have made it clear that many immune subsets harbor a great deal of heterogeneity and complexity. #Masscytometry occupies a unique space in single-cell technologies, allowing the assessment of large numbers of protein markers on millions of individual cells along with wide changes to the #immunesystem and rare subsets of #cells. Join James Badger Wing, PhD, as he describes application of mass cytometry to assess the immune phenotypes of #COVID19 patients, with a particular focus on rare cellular populations, such as regulatory #Tcells.
#Pancreaticcancer has one of the worst survival outcomes of any human cancer, and #immunotherapies have not been successful. University of Oxford scientists explored #immunecell phenotypes in pancreatic cancer patients to identify new targets for checkpoint blockade therapy, focusing on T cell functional states and immune checkpoint expression patterns. The team learned a substantial amount about #Tcells as major players in the suppressive cancer microenvironment and suggest there are key checkpoints on regulatory T cells that may help guide therapeutic strategies in pancreatic cancer.
With Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Advanta™ Dx SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Assay provides an extraction-free saliva-based test to detect nucleic acid from the #SARSCoV2 #virus. The assay does not require collection via invasive nasopharyngeal swab, and studies demonstrated 100 percent agreement between saliva results and results from paired nasopharyngeal samples tested with authorized assays. We would like to highlight this #publication from McGill University, where Sheri McDowell and team provide insights into mechanisms that contribute to the progression of #breastcancer in relation to obesity. The team showed that obesity leads to neutrophil-dependent impairment of vascular integrity through loss of endothelial adhesions, enabling #cancercell extravasation into the lung. #ImagingMassCytometry, using a panel of 35 multiplexed antibodies containing cell lineage markers to assign tumor cells, endothelial cells, neutrophils, macrophages, B cells, helper T cells and cytotoxic T cells, revealed an enrichment in neutrophils with low catalase levels correlating with elevated body mass index.
Let’s do lunch! Talk with Won Jin Ho, MD, about the application of spatial imaging technologies to the characterization of the tumor microenvironment. And don’t miss the interactive conversation during office hours with Andrew Quong, Chief Science Officer, Fluidigm. Join us for this MAD SSCi lunch series! https://lnkd.in/gysg5K8 #Hepatocellularcarcinoma is the fourth most common cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. High-dimensional #immunohistochemistry enabled by #ImagingMassCytometry is employed to undertake an in-depth profiling of the immunologic features within the liver tumor microenvironment.
Why palladium rocks! Palladium is a nickel group element atom, a platinum group metal atom and a metal allergen. With this transition metal, you can barcode. The Cell-ID™ 20-Plex Pd Barcoding Kit enables unique barcoding of 20 samples so they can be combined and subsequently stained and acquired as one multiplexed sample, followed by software de-barcoding and individual sample analysis. #Multiplexing samples improves #dataquality since the 20 samples are stained, processed and acquired as one sample, eliminating sample-specific staining and data collection variation. More on how #barcoding works: https://lnkd.in/gUThpNK
