Wellness has been at an all-time high the last few days. 🧘 We've hosted both in-person and virtual wellness days for our employees, where they've partaken in anything from cooking classes, mindfulness exercises, and even supplying the "horsepower" to blend their smoothies.
The Vectorworks family is heading into the weekend full of energy (and treats). 🤌 We hosted a large in-person employee event at our Maryland HQ, as well as virtual attendees from around the world, for our annual meeting. Along with company updates from our leadership team, employees also got to express their culinary creativity by bringing in homemade hors d’oeuvres. Stay tuned because 2024 has a lot to look forward to!
Vectorworks believes in fostering a supportive workplace that encourages the well-being of our employees, both physically and mentally. We understand the importance of work-life balance and strive to create in person and remote environments that nourishes personal and professional growth. We continue to demonstrate our commitment to this by creating a community where employees can enjoy themselves working at Vectorworks, Inc. The Employee Experience team recently hosted its annual Family Fun Day at Vectorworks HQ, inviting local and in-office/hybrid employees and their families to come together for an evening of fun and relaxation. The group turned Vectorworks’ office space into its own County Fair, with various games and activities for everyone to enjoy.
LGBTQIA+ Pride month is celebrated each year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan — a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. These Pride celebrations are a meaningful reminder of the past generations who fought passionately for LGBTQIA+ civil rights. In the last 54 years, equal rights have shifted for many members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and many organizations have mobilized, making huge strides across the world for equality, but the fight remains today. At Vectorworks, we believe that strength lies in differences, not similarities, so we constantly seek to broaden our perspectives through insight from people with different experiences. We strive to encourage and actively practice our core value of Inclusion by learning about the past and from each other. “LGBTQIA+ issues and advocacy are at the forefront of corporate social responsibility and consumers,” said Marketing Specialist – Architecture and LGBTQIA+ subcommittee member Vu Nguyen. “Our community operates in a dual role of educating our peers on LGBTQIA+ inclusive practices to build an equitable workplace while also ensuring that our community aids the business to elevate LGBTQIA+ voices and increase representation at Vectorworks." Throughout June, Vectorworks was dedicated to remembering the activists who paved the way for the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating and supporting members of this community, and encouraging all staff to learn more about the history of P
We foster a supportive workplace that brings out the best in each of us by nourishing our mental, physical, and emotional well-being to encourage work/life balance. With that, we needed to not only share extensive mental health and wellness resources that are always available to employees but also create a space for them to practice this. The People and Culture team recently hosted its yearly Wellness Day, where employees enjoyed a fun day covering different topics of health, fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness.
At Vectorworks, we believe in the power of investing in not only our employees and customers but also in the communities we serve. That’s why the theme of Earth Day 2023 — “Invest in our Planet” — hits remarkably close to home this year. Giving back is a unique and indispensable component of our company culture. So much so that all employees are provided 24 hours of “Volunteer Time Off” (VTO) yearly to volunteer and give back to their local communities. In the spirit of this year’s Earth Day theme, employees at our corporate headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, used their VTO hours and dedicated time to invest in a critical environmental resource close to home — the Chesapeake Bay.
Vectorworks wholeheartedly believes in investing in our team members and maintaining an environment built on our core values of Balance, Collaboration, Innovation, and Inclusion. With inclusion, we proudly build our team with the best our industries have to offer, regardless of race, gender, sexual preference, or background. In recognition of this year’s International Women’s Day, our DEI Committee held a panel discussion for everyone to hear from some of Vectorworks’ own brilliant, talented, hardworking women. Our women leaders discussed their paths to success in a Q&A and round table discussion.
At Vectorworks, we strive every day to implement real, logical, and lasting solutions that benefit not only our customers but our colleagues as well. Trying new things is critical to improving our skills and product offerings — truly maximizing our positive impact on the design world. As one of Vectorworks’ core values, Innovation is encouraged year-round; however, twice a year, our team gathers for a unique and purposeful reason, the Vectorworks Innovation Forum.
At Vectorworks, we’re so grateful for the opportunity to support our communities through service and volunteering. In fact, we view such efforts as an integral part of our company culture. In 2022, our team members helped a variety of charities and organizations around our headquarters in Columbia, Maryland and around the world! Whether it's fighting homelessness and food insecurity or supporting single-parent households and accessibility of feminine hygiene products, there are so many different ways to get involved and help the community around you.
Diversity is a crucial element of who we are as a society. Because of this, it’s imperative that society not only recognize these traits but also learn from everyone’s background, culture, and differences, especially in the workplace. At Vectorworks, we recognize the strength that lies in our differences, and we always seek to further our knowledge of those who are different from us. Our diversity and inclusion committee recently launched its first hybrid book discussion of Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents. The committee purchased books for employees and hosted bi-weekly discussions where they had insightful and engaging conversations.
