The concept of “work-life balance” is not new to most people, but in a post-pandemic world, it’s getting harder to understand and achieve a sense of proper balance in our lives. According to a study by Deloitte, 77% of respondents reported experiencing burnout in their careers at least once, and a poor work-life balance can impact our physical and mental well-being, leading to an increased risk of anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflict. That’s why — at Vectorworks — we place such a priority on our core value of Balance.
Team members from all around the world traveled to our Maryland headquarters to come together and commemorate all the hard work that goes into releasing a new version of Vectorworks. There were plenty of laughs, emotions, and champagne!
Internships are undoubtedly the best way to gain professional experience. At Vectorworks, we take great pride in how our internship program has grown to give undergraduate and graduate students an unmatched experience to develop their skillsets and careers.
At Vectorworks, we recognize that strength lies in differences, not similarities. That’s why we seek to broaden our perspectives through insight from people with experiences different from our own. That’s why our core value of Inclusion is one of the four driving forces behind Vectorworks’ team, culture, and strategies. Our leadership team, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and individual employees strive to not only embody this value, but also foster and expand upon it by developing and taking part in activities that celebrate our differences and provide a platform for meaningful discussion.
April was National Volunteer Month dedicated to honoring all of the volunteers in communities as well as encouraging volunteerism throughout the month. To celebrate, Vectorworks asked employees to share a picture and/or video of the volunteering activities they participated in throughout the month. Employees were also encouraged to use some of the 24 hours of volunteer time off (VTO) hours Vectorworks provides yearly.
As the world constantly evolves, so does our footprint on this planet, which may not always be sustainable. Because of this, sustainability and environmental action are a necessity. An example of this is Earth Day, an annual global event on April 22 where one billion people in more than 193 countries demonstrate support for environmental protection. While this day usually evokes service activities such as environmental cleanup, recycling, and more, we at Vectorworks decided to talk about a pressing issue our planet is facing — climate change.
Each Vectorworks team member has their own ways to stay sharp and creative throughout the day. In this post, we’ll look at some of the unique “brain breaks” our coworkers take.
Our core values are the driving force behind our team's culture and strategy. And, in a recent discussion with Dr. Biplab Sarkar, Vectorworks CEO, about his decision to have the company observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, these values inevitably found their way into the conversation.
