Did you know that in Michigan, 1,414,700 people are struggling with hunger – and of them 356,930 are children? Someone you know may be hungry; your co-worker, your child’s classmate, your elderly parents. Charitable deeds are abundant around the holidays and are often forgotten in the summer months, but hunger is not isolated to one day or season. Our Webasto family recognizes the community’s need for food security. Together we collected 304 pounds of food for donation – this effort will provide roughly 720 meals! Which is why we headed over to the 2018 Woodward Dream Cruise. 1.5 million visitors lined up on Detroit’s arterial road Woodward Avenue between Ferndale and Pontiac to watch thousands of vintage cars and muscle cars – what a spectacle! Webasto Roof Systems named a Top Michigan Workplace For the first time in our history, Webasto has been named a 2017 Top Michigan Workplace by The Detroit Free Press, Michigan’s largest newspaper. Several hundred Michigan companies contended for this honor, but only 150 companies were recognized as Top Workplaces in three categories – Large, Midsize and Small. The number of winners per category: 35 (Large), 55 (Midsize) and 60 (Small). Webasto competed in the Large category and ranked 28th out of the 35 companies recognized in that category. Key points about our win: Webasto was the only Tier 1 automotive supplier to make the list. General Motors was the only OEM to make the list, ranking 27th, just one place ahead of Webasto. Webasto ranked ahead of established names including: Fifth Third Bank, Kelly Services, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and Comcast. WE made this list because hundreds of our production and salaried colleagues responded to the independent survey administered by The Free Press to measure the health of all competing organizations.
