For the third year in a row, XPO has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) for our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion. The HRC Corporate Equality Index is based on a comprehensive annual survey that measures corporate practices for LGBTQ+ workplace equality. This year’s index reflects growth in every benchmarked category, from the adoption of inclusive non-discrimination policies to equitable healthcare benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families.
XPO team members assembled and delivered 1,000 bicycles to three underprivileged neighborhoods in the greater Akron, OH area. This is the fifteenth year for the partnership with Elves & More of Northeast Ohio, whose model adopts entire neighborhoods so that every child receives a Christmas gift, and no one is left out. LaQuenta Jacobs, chief diversity officer for XPO Logistics, said, “Our employees like nothing better than to give back to the communities where they live and work. Elves & More is a way for us to make a heartwarming impact close to home.”
At XPO Logistics, we understand the value of developing internal talent and creating a strong, diverse bench of rising leaders. We’re constantly designing strategies that empower our employees to discover their leadership potential. We held our inaugural Women in Leadership Conference in Atlanta on November 17-19. The event is part of XPO RISE, the company’s executive training program for high-potential female managers. The 18 women selected for the program represent a range of managerial functions within XPO, including technology, sales operations, project management and customer service. The Women in Leadership program focuses on preparing women to lead change with conviction and confidence. We’re challenging participants by asking them to examine their values, vision and capabilities as a leader, manager and team contributor with the help of mentors and executives. All participants are attending workshops covering leadership topics such as leveraging networks, negotiation, conflict resolution and communicating with conviction.
XPO has been designated as a bronze-level 2022 Military Friendly Employer by Viqtory, a veteran-owned business that connects military veterans with opportunities in civilian life. Additionally, XPO has become a signatory of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve pledge, reinforcing its commitment to support US employees in meeting their service obligations as members of the National Guard and Reserve. The company has many internal and external initiatives focused on supporting and growing its veteran employees.
As the official 3-Day transportation partner of Susan G. Komen through 2022, XPO will donate services in San Diego, New England, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth for the 3-Day® fundraising walks. The company will continue to provide storage for Komen equipment, supplies and merchandise between events. XPO will also support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating all proceeds from co-branded XPO-Komen products sold through the XPO employee store in October.
Six months after our inaugural XPO Rise class launched, three participants have already been promoted to director and vice president roles in their organizations. Rise is one of several professional development programs we offer to enhance the employee experience. It’s focused on providing high-potential leaders with an immersive approach to executive development. Current XPO executives have helped facilitate this process by serving as mentors and champions. Our goal is to build an internal bench of diverse employees with the potential to move into executive roles across XPO.
XPO is proud to announce a partnership with Hiring our Heroes, a US Chamber of Commerce Foundation program, which helps bridge the civilian-military divide within the business community. Our inaugural fellowship class recently completed a 12-week training program and three veteran graduates have started full-time roles with XPO.
