Infrastructure analysts specialize in diagnosing and solving problems for complex computer systems. They use their computer languages and operations knowledge to find and fix problems in large computer networks, including network communications errors, storage problems, and malfunctioning server platforms. They monitor network systems’ performance to identify any issues and routinely perform analysis during regular IT infrastructure operations, including networks, firewalls, servers, and devices. They work with the IT team to determine appropriate solutions for network issues and to mitigate future issues.
Infrastructure analysts work closely with the information security team to ensure the plan follows security procedures. Once they have formulated a plan, infrastructure analysts work with IT teams to implement necessary upgrades, patches, or troubleshooting to solve the problems. They also document changes and follow all change management procedures. Infrastructure analysts need a degree in computer science, infrastructure architecture, data centers, servers, networks, and fluency in operating systems and related skills.
