Technical services engineers provide tech support and other IT services, often for highly technical systems or those used by customers in technical or scientific fields. They guide the setup and installation process, ensure all systems and programs are working well together, and assist with resolving any issues or conflicts. They help with configuration or modification of new or existing systems and programs. They also assist with security issues or questions.
Technical services engineers typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field, although an advanced degree is an advantage. They must have excellent analytical skills and good problem-solving abilities. Hands-on experience with program installation and integration is expected. Proficiency with programming languages is helpful, as is experience using troubleshooting tools and programs.
