      Manager Interview

      Mar 19, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at QIAGEN in Jan 2010

      Interview

Phone screen followed by on-site interview with hiring manager, one level above, and some direct reports. It took a bit over a month to receive job offer. The direct reports were not adequately trained on how to give an interview.

      Manager Interview

      Nov 22, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at QIAGEN

      Interview

Mixed feeling I would say with plenty of thing they hide. They were not very clear on what they demanded from the candidate. The hiring manager has a poor English and very cold. Chaotic setup. They said they look for someone who has knowledge in MDG and Archiving, but these 2 were never mentioned in the job description. They also said this is manager role but no direct report. It was very surprising considering that the job description was also to coach architect/consultant. They just started the setup, but the way they run the interview good luck in finding candidates who wants to move there, I wasn't really disappointed as I would not want to work to a manager that doesnt even understand what he needs to deliver.

      Manager Interview

      Jun 13, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at QIAGEN in May 2012

      Interview

After receiving my resume, I was contacted to know if i was still in job market. Upon my replying stating yes, I was called for in person interview at a notice of 48h. During the interview process, i felt as interviewer, a senior manager, wasn't interested in my responses but more so in negating every answer I gave or arguments I made. At the end of process, he/she suggested me to look for sales rep positions (mind it- I am interviewing for manager position with years of experience and advanced qualifications). Still I was asked to be available for HR phone interview at designated time and date. On the scheduled date and time, I waited and waited but didn't receive any call. I called HR number and left voice messages for designated person. NO reply. I tried again next day and left message again. NO REPLY. After 5 days, I received a voice message from same manager who interviewed me saying I didn't make through interview. I emailed back and left voice message asking feedback. NO REPLY. If they had made up their mind, I would have expected that they informed me in advance that they cancelled HR interview instead of me waiting for their call. This was totally unprofessional on Qiagen's part. Also, senior manager didn't show any respect to me as candidate or to my qualifications/experience. I constantly got impression that he/she was trying to prove how is he/she came up hard way and so should everyone. I am wondering if it was worth working for such managers even if I was offered job.
