      Tough place to be

      Product engineer specialist
      Current employee
      Saint Paul, MN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Decent salary, decent benefits and flexibility on Work Your Way

      Cons

No stability, waiting for the next round of layoffs when we haven't recovered from the last round. So many job eliminations and the directive to work more quickly without having the people to do the work. It's frustrating.

      Pros

Good pay, benefits, and time off.

      Cons

      Toxic

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Benefits are top notch, hourly pay is the best around, physically the work is easy

      Cons

They own you, you do what they say when they say. work long hours, inept management, dont speak up or ask questions or you will be targeted as a trouble maker. Raises are minimal and not skill based. No bonuses or incentives. Time off is not always granted, vacation is based on seniority so you will work every holiday if you are new. Very inept leadership locally, do as i say not as i do atmosphere.

      Former employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Good benefits and good pay

      Cons

Hours for production are long, not treated like they are part of the big 3M name

      Nepotism at its finest

      Marketing manager
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Good pay, benefits, remote opportunities.

      Cons

Several of the consumer businesses are trending down. The worst part from what I saw while I was there was the amount of nepotism, favoritism, and hiring of own friends and family members into 3M and leadership roles. You saw that at the highest level of the consumer organization and it trickled down. It's a conflict of interest to hire your best friend to work under you but we saw it happen repeatedly. It's disgusting because these were not qualified people hired for the roles they were placed in. This allowed a certain customer-facing team to misuse millions of funds—poor ethics and people management. Be cautious. Tons of layoffs and a very unstable environment to be in. More than half the people who used to be there are now gone claiming they have "retired" or their positions were eliminated.

A great company once. Today a shadow of its former self

      Project manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

People are respectfuly. Good benefits, Reasonable pay

      Cons

Current CEO is effectively destroying the company, with yearly lay-offs, focus on short term shareholder results and a general disregard for the employees. It breaks my heart to see 3M like this.
